God, the Leprechaun movies are terrible. So terrible that they've managed to set their own standard of terrible, which culminates with the Leprechaun rapping at the end of (checks notes) the FIFTH film, in which The Leprechaun goes to LA to hunt down some rappers, led by (checks notes again) fucking Ice-T. While this song doesn't tell you a lot about the Leprechaun, it's definitely as much as you need to know. He's a Leprechaun, he's magic, and he (triple checks notes) really wants to get laid. Goddamnit, Warwick Davis, why did you agree to this? It's a godawful song. Dumb lyrics with forced rhymes on a shitty beat with a shitty hook and terrible, off-pitch backup singers. On top of that, the song gives off some real strong rapey vibes, but stays just vague enough about it to prevent a higher villainy score.

While I'm fine including fan-made songs with the villain songs, something admittedly doesn't feel quite right about including this, essentially just a remix of GLaDOS quotes. It's a decentremix, admittedly. Definitely not something I can see myself listening to a whole lot, but it's certainly not bad either. It definitely owes a lot to just how naturally pleasant GLaDOS' voice is though. But as just an assortment of out-of-context quotes, it doesn't really say anything for the character. Had I not known better, I might not even assume this was supposed to be a character, but just a bunch of random lines read by a computerized voice. Villainy is also pretty light, as the only thing really villainous here is the "Proceed directly to hell" line. Even a 2 there feels a little high, but as I was ranking, 3 was essentially the bottom line for "rude," so it felt fitting.

I can appreciate a solid West Side Story reference, and that alone makes up pretty much the entire melody score, becuase these aren't particularly impressive lines or vocals. Beyond that, this was never going to score particularly high for characterization or villainy either, but that's what happens when it's a song song by a group of characters who (with the exception of Doofenschmirtz) don't have their own real personalities, with only the villainous possiblities that a kid's show will allow. All this really is a group of bad guys (who are never really made out to be anything more complex than that) literally saying, "hey, we're the bad guys, you're the good guys, we're gonna beat you."

Honestly, I wish this song was better. I love Team Rocket, and I was always a fan of their little motto during the show. While the characters are great, and it's nice having the voice actors in the song... their singing really isn't the best. I mean, it's not even really singing, as much as talking over the music, sort of rhytmically and sort of not. It's extra hard to hear them sing the motto, but not on tempo with how they sing it in the show. It just felt wrong. On top of that, they had Meowth sing a line and it's just... *shudders*. Beyond that, it's fine, but also pretty vague. Like with OWCAs Going Down, it's kind of bad guys just say "hey, we're the bad guys, we do crime," without going into what that means beyond just capturing Pikachu. It's definitely a moment where, yeah, we all know that's their deal, but from an outside perspective, there's not much there

Maaaaan, what a throwback. I certainly didn't remember this song, but as soon as I hit play it all suddenly came back to me. It must've been like, what, almost 20 years since I've heard this song? I remember playing all the Cluefinders games when I was like in 1st grade and being so proud I beat games above my grade level. And I'm surprised, this song's actually kinda catchy. A little simple and repetitive (and I remember it feeling a little out of place even way back when) but I actually enjoy it a little.It doesn't say much for Mathra himself though. We get that he's some sort of monster who attacked a jungle thousands of years ago, who can only be defeated by... basic addition and subtraction. The poor guy isn't really evil, he's just hungry for Puma and sad that Numeria's public school system failed him.

I was really digging this song at first, right up until the vocals came in. As an instrumental boss theme, I think this would've been great, and I can definitely see myself fighting Armstrong to those guitar riffs. The vocals though? They almost sound whiny, and definitely don't fit the heavier sound of the rest of the song. On top of that the lyrics (what little there are) aren't particularly memorable. It's a super generic You v. Me type of song, that feels like it wants to say something without actually saying anything. Oh, we're different, but we're actually the same, also bad things are happening, but maybe they need to happen? That's a pretty weak TED Talk.

So this is a good example of the distinct difference between a villain song and a boss theme. There are excellent examples of each. Some songs can even manage to be both. This is unfortunately not one of them. This is a boss theme, pure and simple, and a pretty good one at that. I'm willing to give it just a little bit of credit toward characterization and villainy, because it does have a very distinct sound. It's a little jovial, while also menacing. Kind of sounds like the music that might be playing in a haunted funhouse... if you were trying to fight a video game boss in the fun house. Not a great analogy. Regardless, it doesn't tell you much of anything about who Dimentio is, what he wants, what makes him a villain. It's all mood and no story. It is kind of a bop though, I'll give it that.

Gamma Unchained is a decent enough villain song, I'll give it that. I know I gave it a low villain score, but that's not really anything against the song itself. It takes the perspective of Dr. Wily, but presents him much more as a misguided man than an evil one, scorned by the public, but creating Gamma with hope that it would help mankind but ultimately losing control of him. It's a little sad, honestly, though what holds it back is simply that I wanted more from it. The mechanized voice announcing Gamma's startup sequence was a nice touch, and speaks for what this song could've been. I hate to admit, but it's kind of a boring song by itself. The vocals have very little range or emotion, and it kind of feels repetitive as it goes. It strikes me as a filler song musically, despite the fact that it should've by all means been more.

If A.R. Rahman was hired to compose the soundtrack for Def Jam: Fight for New York, this is roughly what we would end up with, and I hate that I kind of dig it. It runs into the same trouble as some other songs on this list, as it's not really a villain song as much as it is their theme. There's very little characterization here beyond the vague idea that they're 1. tough and 2. from an international culture, maybe Indian or Egyptian? Even at that, there's definitely nothing villainous about the song itself, it's maybe a little menacing, sure, but could just as easily be the theme of an ass-kicking action hero. I definitely enjoyed listening to it though, and can potentially see throwing it on a workout playlist.
