I've turned 25 now and when I started posting on PotD I was probably about 15. So that's crazy. When I'm watching Overwatch League now and the players are an average age of 19-20 I start to think like wtf am I too old for this shit? but I'm only 25. weird world these days.

I wonder if realsports fans who watch college football or whatever are ever thinking the same.

It wasn't until I left school at 16 that I got internet at home. Hell I even used GameFAQs before then for cheats.

I first visited Gamefaqs in 97 or 98. That means I've been using Gamefaqs for almost as long as you've been alive. Thanks for making *me* feel old >_>

I still watch Dota 2 and it seems completely normal for pro players to be pushing 30 years old. But Overwatch for some reason is like porn industry, the moment some Korean prodigy turns 18 some team snatches them up and leaves the 25 year old boomers to die on the bench.

I'm 28 and I'm noticeably worse at video games than I used to be. It's not as big of a hobby for me as it was 10-15 years ago.

I don't feel old though. GameFAQs is my only gaming community, and I'm probably in the younger half of users. What does sometimes boggle my mind is that, like 12 years ago, almost everyone on this site was a teenager (like I was), but now we're mostly in our late 20s or 30s.

I was older than 25 when I started posting here, and that was about 16 years ago.

I remember when a friend of mine was weirded out by the fact that people born after 1990 could drive, and now I'm living in a world where people who weren't even born during 9/11 are almost legally allowed to drink. There are YouTubers I watch at least somewhat regularly who are young enough to be my children. I have shirts in my closet that are older than you are.

You haven't even begun to plumb the depths of feeling old yet.

Unless you're over 50 (which is possible, we've got some old fucks here), the Internet existed before you were born.

The World Wide Web wasn't invented until the early 90s, and general Internet usage didn't become popularized until the mid-to-late 90s, but the Internet as a governmental resource and tool for educational use in colleges has been around since the early 70s. Most people didn't know that at the time, though, so a lot of people mistakenly assume the Internet really only "started" in the late 90s (around the time of AOL).

I still remember telnetting into a local BBS in high school. That's where my friends and I downloaded cracked copies of the original Doom and games like The Dark Half and Spellcasting 301.

When most of you guys think about modems, you're still thinking about the little box that makes weird noises. But I'm just on the cusp of being able to remember when these were a thing:

I was using 'internet' in the more modern context, I'm aware that Arpanet existed well prior to that and colleges had access before it was generally available to the public. I'm not quite that old, although my older brother is a few months older than the official 'creation' date for Arpanet.

Back in the 80s and 70s the internet may have existed but it was the realm of the uber nerds for the most part. Most people had 0 interaction with the internet before AOL made the entire thing far more popular, and made it far more appealing to a more casual computer owner.

I'll be 44 at the end of this month.

I didn't get Internet at home until after I got my degree almost 21 years ago - it was dial-up, IIRC. Didn't get a cable modem until a little more than a year later.

There are still teens on this site. And you're very likely underestimating the site's average age 12 years ago.

Every decade I have that moment. It's also weird giving those drivers directions and realizing that you're referencing things that haven't been around since before they were born despite it being something people who were around at the time would still know today. And then having a friend point that fact out and justifying myself by mentioning, "Well, it wasn't that long ago!" And, honestly, nothing feels that long ago.

tbh, the human body peaks around 25 years of age. Of course, a person's career peaks much later. The prime earning years are something like 45 and onward.

Not underestimating it by much. (There wasn't a "how old are you" poll in 2008, so 2007 will have to do). Teens were the majority on this site.
