I suspect it's true that a random sampling of people would largely say they've been helped by police for the reason that for most people police have little to no direct impact on their lives, but they would cite some society-wide reduction in crime due to general police presence as a help.

my friends arent a random sampling, but they are mostly middle class white dudes and all they had to say a couple days ago were complaints about the cops because they got pulled over or whatever.

in some abstract indirect way maybe theyve been protected from crime by police being present somewhere, but I dont think any of them would have a clear example of a time theyve been helped and their impression of cops from the town we grew up in was that they were dicks. the town was too safe so the cops had nothing better to do than bother high school kids.

I had to start laughing when Trump declared he wasn't going to allow bases named after Confederacy figures to be renamed because they have a "history of Winning, Victory, and Freedom."

So like two weeks ago or whatever I noted that a Q believer had won the Republican primary in Oregon and would be running for the US Senate this fall. However, that's a race all but certainly unwinnable for a Republican.

But now we have a Republican primary winner in a R+27 district so we're likely to have a QAnon believer in the House in the next Congress. (GA-14)

Remember that the person that primaried King did so on the grounds that he was ineffective and not enough of of a Trump Ally after he said the quiet part out loud and got stripped of his committee assignments.
