Of course, the improvement in job numbers are meaningless when many states are still engaging in economic suicide by staying closed despite the fact that the hordes of protestors on the streets show that the measures we've taken have been either largely unnecessary or completely meaningless.

Granted, most of these protests aren't all that big and the response has largely been overblown by the media. However, a few of the cities -- the "hardest-hit areas" -- saw over a thousand people turn out, so clearly the pandemic isn't a concern at this point.

The stock market has almost no relation to jobs and median pay. A lot of times, it works inversely to it. Stocks surge for a company when they announce lay offs. It's rather annoying that no one ever seems to learn this and just continues to buy into the Reaganomics bs over and over again.

These protests have been happening for less than a week. COVID's incubation period means there's a 2-3 week lag in the effects of any change in how we're handling it. It's far too soon to use this to say "welp, guess the lockdowns weren't necessary!".

I know you feel an unceasing compulsion to play devil's advocate for some of the most indefensible positions, but I really think you should have taken a break from that before reading this topic.

CORRECTION
A previous version of this story incorrectly said that the president called the jobs report a great day for George Floyd, the black man killed by white police in Minneapolis. In fact, the president was referring to growing calls for equal justice under the law.
