Here's some contrasting excerpts! IGN - 9/10 With a sublimely detailed world and breakneck survival-horror gameplay, Resident Evil 3 is just as good as its 2019 predecessor. More, please! PC Gamer - 5.8/10 Both the Nemesis and Raccoon City are massively underused in this disappointing step back for the series. Game Informer - 9/10 This is another spectacular remake for the series, and Nemesis is an imposing enemy who relentlessly chases you throughout the game. Gamespot - 6/10 Capcom's remake of Resident Evil 3 makes a strong first impression, but it eventually loses sight of what made the original so memorable. US Gamer - 3.5/5 Resident Evil 3 finally repositions its place as not just a true sequel to Resident Evil 2, but as a bridge to Resident Evil 4, both in action and plot. While it streamlines the formula of Resident Evil 2 into something more linear, it's still the best way to dodge through Raccoon City with Jill and Carlos, even with Nemesis always on your tail and the occasional clunkiness here and there. With a breezy runtime, Resident Evil 3 is well worth revisiting. Just maybe not Resident Evil Resistance. The butchering of A/B scenarios meant that the "second run" was more of an arraigned mode anyway, swapping Ada and Sherry around for who you get to rescue from the sewer. I think it's a holdover from when we were kids and you needed to decide which games to rent vs which games to buy. I almost exclusively bought RPGs growing up because I knew I'd get a lot of value out of them. Games I knew I could beat in a weekend or a week and never touch again would be a rental. I just really like all the settings in the game, just seeing the kind of places, landmarks and businesses that populated Raccoon City is so interesting to me.
