I'll be nice and give it 6/10 Quick review, contains mild spoilers - -Far too short. You can finish the game in one hour in a speedrun -Nemesis sequences are mostly "hold shift and W to run" with no skill involved -Boss fights suck. They tried to give a gimmick of hitting the fuel tank, hitting the electric panels, put a mine where Nemsis is running etc. But those gimmick are pointless - the boss fights still suck -Game is too linear. Making replaybility terrible. I have played it 6 times (twice on Assisted for the No Healing/No item box achievements and once per difficulty) and every single run was the same Yes, Nightmare adds new enemies in locations and it can be surprising sometimes, and yes, it also locks the door to the Donut Shop, but THAT'S IT. -Final boss is a joke on Standard but the most cheapass motherfucker on higher difficulties. It can instakill you with a stunlock and it's so stupid and lame -Overall the game feels more like a michael bay movie rather than a game. Yay, explosions! wow, who the fuck still gets hyped from those things? -There is a massive dip in quality after Raccoon City in terms of how the enviroment look. In Raccoon City they put a lot of effort into posters, shops, cutscenes etc. But in the sewers and NEST? boringggg. Hospital is passable, but barely -I mentioned this a few days ago but despite doing a whole series marathon of RE this year, I still barely remember the original RE3. And even though I forgot many things, there are a lot of things I am surprised to see they cut the clock tower, the sandworm fight and the whole forest path to the lab. Also I wanted to see Jill and Carlos being stuck in the Gas Station recreated, I wanted to see the part with the electrical fence and frying some zombies..but nope -Although I mentioned they put effort into Raccoon City, it was still pretty small compared to what I expected it would be -Fuck, you can't go back to Dario Rosso to check up on him -Where are the fucking puzzles? come on, the one with the train stations and the other one with the "Mid High Low" were jokes -I know this is not a open world game but I most say the RE2R and RE3R are showing the WORST use of scenery to roadblock. It's fucking painful It's so obvious how they use the cars and fences to block the road and make the map so small and linear. It's never so obvious in other games as it is in those two. Those fucking setpieces thrown around everywhere to block your path..ugh -Just a general feel of the game being rushed. The engine is ready and super good. Most assets are from RE2 (including RPD) why not use it and pump out RE3 as fast as possible? of course, easy money. It was less than 1 year of dev time and it shows. When it launched, a buddy came by with his big monitor, and we ran through the whole game on that dual-monitor setup in one day. It was an epic intro to the game, and I did put a ton of time into it during 2009. That said, I haven't returned once since then, whereas RE4 is truly a timeless experience that keeps me coming back every couple years. As for RE6... it's the only numbered game in the series that I couldn't get into. I really like the stories in that game to be perfectly honest and the games' action features are terrific and really push what a TPS can be and I'm still floored to this day how more features from it haven't become commonplace in other games. I didn't expect RE3 to have any area as well designed as the RCPD (the original didn't), but nothing comes close. Combine that with the Clock Tower disappointment and Nemesis taking such a big backseat to Mr. X, and ehh...
