When payday gets here next week I would like to be able to buy some damn toilet paper and water like normal. You people are just crazy. Its a somewhat meaner flu.. not god damned Captain Trips. People.. Randall Flagg isn't coming. Calm the hell down.

This is getting so out of hand.

I would just like to be able wipe my ass come next friday. I've got family and friends telling me the local stores, people have bought all the water, toilet paper cleaning supplies hamburger..etc.

I swung by walmart this afternoon to get a new razor and I watched a big crowd form around this one area. I moseyed over out of curiosity and watched employees unboxing toilet paper off a skid. They tried to be fair about handing it out evenly until some people decided they were more important than anyone else and just started grabbing multiple packages. The employees finally gave up and stepped back.

I dont blame them, theyre not paid anywhere near enough to fight a crowd of assholes. Its not the virus we should be scared of, its the people.

its not about them deciding to shut down water in an area, its about the possibility of not having enough workers to keep things like treatment plants running and reservoirs managed

people not only make sure water is available but also that it isnt contaminated

I get that I just really dont think itll get to that point.

The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power has already notified me and the rest of the county not to panic buy bottled water because the tap isnt going anywhere.

Where I live the water is horrible. I told my roomates last week I was drinking the tap water because I couldn't find any at the store and they said they wouldn't give it to their dog (ttey don't).

Luckily I finally got to buy some a few days ago, but I only bought 10 gallons...so it'll only last me about 2 weeks. Hopefully it becomes more available by then (there was more but I didn't want to be greedy).

I have a normal amount of TP at home, which normally would last me months, but I have this acid reflux thing going that causes me to become very congested (especially after waking up, god this sucks, seriously it's horrid) and I'm going through it much faster. Still should last me a few weeks at least though.

If things get seriously worse in a few weeks I may be in trouble, but I guess I could use wash cloths to blow my nose and spit up in and then wash them/re-use them in a worst case scenerio.

And I can drink the water, it just tastes horrid, but it's probably not bad for me....probably.

I never did ask anyone about the water quality here in Olympia. I just defaulted to having a filter because I always have one. Speaking of which, I should consider buying replacements for it in the next month or two. <_<

I'll check Target soon when I go to see if they have some color-safe bleach. I've been meaning to get some of that since long before this latest outbreak, and probably should have bought some already. We shall see.

I've used filters in the past, but I rent a basement and to use a filter I would have to go upstairs to the kitchen (where I never go lolz), so that is why I buy bottled water mainly. I mean, I go up there to fill my bottles with water form the sink to use in making tea (since it's boiled) but only about once every 2 weeks or so.

Even when I did have filters though (my house in olympia), I still bought the bottled gallon crystal gyser spring waters for 80 cents a pop. It''s cheap and tastes much better than even filtered water, which helps me not drink soda etc (which is still hard for me). I know it's not great for the environment but I recycle and I'm struggling here with eating healthy and not drinking anything with sugar etc....this helps.

Oh, but the water quality in olympia was good, at least for me, but...well I lived over looking the sound, in a high end neighborhood, so i'm not sure about all of Olympia.

Now I live in the basement of a crappy house in a bad neighborhood (Cars stolen/people stabbed) so yeah, water quality isn't great.

No really that much. Bidets are really that cheap. It would be much cheaper on a basic level to just get toilet paper, depending on certain things. For a bidet, you have to buy it. And pay someone to install it. They start around $250 normally, but can easily go up to like $500-$700. And higher for high end models. It only really saves money in the long run. But for saving money right now, toilet paper is probably the way to go...

Depending on where you live, it's not always a problem. For example, in the city I live in, it wasn't a problem until a couple days ago because 2 or 3 people in town might have it or something. So, they started buying stuff like Wednesday or something. But payday isn't until next Friday. So, some people may not have any extra saved up depending on when they go shopping and stuff, or based on how they pay bills of whatever...

I live in a basement, jsut a bathroom sink to use to get water and I couldn't fit a jug under it (also eww...the water is horrid from that). I don't go upstairs to the kitchen often so I can't use a filter. Also the gallon jugs fit easily in my hand so I can drink from them. My students used to love to see me drink from them in 1 hand lol (I have giant sized hands).

I mean, I'm not that worried about dying, but I really don't wanna go out by flu like conditions....that is a crappy way to go. Meanwhile I am high risk, I'm 50 + diabetic + high blood pressure + currently have something wrong with my lungs and already dealing with flem/congestion etc (it's really horrid in the mornings).

If I get it, I probably won't survive, but worse, the process of actually dying will seriously suck.

So yeah, if your young and healthy, this can still suck, but your fairly likely to breeze through it even if you get it.

If your older, well, its more dangerous. Currently it doesn't "seem" to be at a stage in the US where it's an uncountrolled outbreak, but honestly it could be and we don't even know it yet.

It's best for anyone that is high risk to avoid going out as much as possible, especially to places with large numbers of people. You can, at least in my area, get food delivered at leaat.

Problem is, if the food is handled by many people and any of them have it, and then you touch the food to put it away etc, boom.

So yeah, shrug not much I can do tbh, I stocked up on some supplies if it gets bad, but I am not going to eat just canned food unless I have to. Until someone say that you have a high chance of getting it just going out to the store, or to eat somewhere, I'm gonna keep living as normal as I can.

I have no family/responsibilities etc, so at least I don't have to worry about leaving anyone behind.

I hope your right, I have enough food/water to last that long myself, although not enough for both my roomates upstairs (they have not stocked up). We'd have to ration pretty hard if we couldn't get food easily.

I'm just worried that if it gets out there, so it's not contained any people are passing it around in public (which I am guessing it already is by how many people are getting it etc right now?), then I'll be pretty much totally stuck in my basement for weeks, while not feeling good. I need to refill my perscriptions in a week as well, I'll HAVE to go out then (I'd die without them).

So yeah, I really, really hope this gets contained.
