I'm almost done with the first game and trying to get a sense of which cases made this game the sensation that it was back in the day.

I gather that the original game is still very highly regarded, but what's the series pinnacle?

The top three cases are generally regarded to be 1-4, 2-4, and 3-5.

3-5 is the best (others will say 2-4 or maybe 1-4. Occasionally you might get 6-5, E2-5, or 1-5, though 1-5 has a lot of detractors).

1-4. 1-5 is polarizing.

Im halfway through AA4 now, but so far its 1-5, 2-4, and 3-5 to me. Id say 2-4 edges the others out by a little, though.

1-5 is effectively DLC. 1-4 is the final case of the first game.

Just finished 1-4. That was superb.

Kind of makes me want to see an entire game centered around a single case like this. Just a 15 day mega trial.

1-4, 1-5, 2-4, 3-5, 5-5, 6-5

So basically the finales except for 4s. Best non-finale case is more interesting, and the most common answer might be 6-3?

yesss

if you're excited, 1-5 is like the length of the entire game preceding it combined. subsequent finales are also all monster-length - the series changes a lot from the simplicity of AA1. remains to be seen if you'll enjoy that though!

1-4 was just so good and such a nicely climactic scenario for all of these interrelated characters. 1-5, so far, seems to be very much a "bonus."

For context 1-5 was added to the DS remake of AA1, so it was made after the third game (the first three games were originally released for GBA Im Japan only). Thats why theres such a huge jump in complexity from 1-4 to 1-5.

i think the highs of 1-5 are higher than 1-4s, but it certainly has more flaws too.

i'm gonna break it to you now: they change with each game. and some get better, some get worse, but don't ragequit AA2 when you realize your favorite tunes are gone

also, requesting musix ranking after finishing 1-5

I always felt people loved 1-5 back when it was just AA1 and AA2 because there wasnt a lot of cases to compare it to. Also 3 days investigation and trial is truly an AA1 relic and you feel it at its hardest in 1-5.

Still love that case though. Its flaws are just more apparent the further you get into the series.

consensus best cases are 1-4, 2-4, 3-5, and 6-5 btw. Any other case has at least some people against it or not considering it to be the best. Those 4 are always at the top though

Yeah, 1-5 used to be considered to be up there as one of the best cases by a large chunk of the fanbase, but I feel like opinions on it have mellowed out over time.

Ace Attorney 1 beated

1-5 was great, but a little too drawn out and the jar puzzle was the most infuriating thing I've experienced in a game in a long time.

1-4 definitely the best so far, but I do need a break from the series for a bit.

disappointed as a reader, but when i think about it, i actually waited several months between AA1 and AA2.

no pause between AA2 and AA3 tho
