Fire Emblem is already doing way better on RE2 than it did yesterday. Getting rid of both Dragon Quest and Link's Awakening helped out, but still not enough to be leading at the freeze.

Yes. It had single 12-hour matches throughout 4 or so rounds, then it switched to 24-hour ones.

I have to be one of the few people who loved the 3v3 or 4v4 polls. I know it doesnt tive us an honest look at true strength, but they were even more unpredictable which was the appeal imo

I like the multi-way polls for the first few rounds just because we get to see more games and more wackiness

I do enjoy the later rounds being traditional tho

But seeing as we're only getting 10 noms this will probably just be 128 1v1 traditional format. It's not like we can do GotD bi-yearly or anything

It was only 24 hours for the last three matches.

I'll gladly take multiple matches a day over 12-hour matches. Much better format.

12-hour matches were a good idea in theory early on when the vote totals were a lot better than they used to be. But with the severe drop in vote totals, having 12-hour matches was even less appealing due to making our already bad vote totals worse.

Multiple matches per day but for 24 hours is a better format despite having the potential risk of rally spillover affecting the other matches running at the same time.

I prefer 24 hour matches because of Time Zones. Yeah I know most of you are Americans but hey there are others too.

Yeah and the worse thing about it is that people will never let you forget that x character or game only won because it was a day or night match, it makes a lot of close matches feel retroactively worth a lot less and seem less entertaining than they were in the moment

Unlike in the previous 2 polls, Fire Emblem has a lead over RE2 at the freeze. I doubt it will be able to hold the lead for the rest of the poll, though I haven't looked at the trends for yesterday's poll yet.

I'm a bit surprised Fire Emblem is doing even better in a 1v1 poll compared to the 3-way. I remember the 2008 GotY polls where Brawl got 51.65% on MGS4 in the 3-way and it was assumed that removing Fallout 4 would help MGS4 improve against Brawl. Instead, Brawl actually got slightly better in a 1v1, improving to 52.10% on MGS4 in the 1v1 poll.

I mean, the original RE2 wasn't all that strong (it lost handily to FFT in 2015), so RE2make was always going to have a relatively low ceiling.

Looking at the trends from yesterday's poll, I'd say RE2 is the expected favorite today. FE3H's worst time period yesterday was the night vote and morning vote, so it would have to survive that time period to have any chance of winning. It fared best during the ASV and SNV, while going exactly 50/50 with RE2 during the ASV. Since both the 3-way and 1v1 polls are on the weekend, yesterday's trends should be pretty relevant for today's poll as well.

IT shares the same name and story structure.

As far as being A game. Its completely different. even more so than any other Remake.

And I think with the Switch being super popular on this site and RPG's in general its not hard to see FE's popularity.

But i think FE was just a great game in general

This is why God of War did so well against Smash last year. Yes Smash has 10x the bigger fanbase but GoW was respected enough as a game that people voted for it

And add to the fact that Smash had a awful Single player

RE2 and its not even close.

FFXV would lose to a ton of non Nintendo games like Witcher 3, Skyrim, persona 5 even some of the souls games

id put FFXV at around Kh3 level. And we all know these big franchise games look stronger during GOTY poll. FFXV even when it came out didnt even look good. its going to be much worse now. RE2 might look even better in a contest format especially with it being new.

In the 3-way poll, Sekiro was pretty bad with the board vote but does best in the morning. RE2 does best at night, which is to be expected based on past games in the series. FE does poorly at night, similar to most Nintendo games. FE also went exactly 50/50 with RE2 during the ASV.

For the 1v1 poll, FE manages to outright win the board vote over RE2. It even won the SNV too.

Both of these polls were on the weekend, so the trends were expected to be similar. Regardless, there were some differences in trends between both polls. Such as FE doing worse with the ASV in the 1v1 poll, which was almost as bad as its night vote. In the 3-way poll, FE also had a poor morning vote, but it had a better morning vote in the 1v1 poll instead.

Cant argue with system of the year. Switch winning last year was a joke. But this year its clear winner

ps4 was a joke and while I love Xbox it had very few exclusives.
