Yeah, mine closed down despite me constantly eating there.

I use to think only folks that wanted to pretend they were Naruto would go eat that shit. But once I tasted a good tonkutsu ramen my world changed. Now I am constantly searching for another authentic ramen spot.

Funny story. Coworker said he did not like ramen and when we asked what type and where has he tried it he mentioned the instant ramen type. I was a bit baffled and had to explain that the instant ramen cannot be compared to the ones from an actual ramen shop. On the plus side, I think he is more open to other foods now. He did not like sashimi or nigiri before but after trying out some good ones, loves em now. I was the same with uni once. Had one bad one that was gritty and tasted too much of seawater. Was not till I tried a good one that I realized the one I had at first was simply bad.

I don't go often, but there are quite a few in my area. They're always really packed too. My favorite was a place that opened (relatively) recently. I was meeting with some friends after work and the wait was nearly 2 hours. The place was known for its tsukemen, so we all wound up getting it. Also, they served it with a whole egg! Some places only give you half an egg (you can get more as an add-on, but still...).

Idk what I got exactly but it was fantastic. Black ramen with pork belly is what it was called. Lots of garlic and onions.

I make this at home. with nissin demae ramen packets but also fresh meat, eggs, and veggies. so uhh that cancels out the processedness of the stock flavour. perfectly seared+braised pork belly is the key. also, 8 minute eggs.

Is Pho the same as a ramen shop?

I have never been able to force myself to pay $10+ for ramen because I figure you can buy it for like 25cents, so I have never tried it in a shop. I don't think there is a ramen place near me, but there is a ton of pho places. People rave about it, but I have not tried pho either (usually when I go to such a place they have wonton soup and I just get that because I know I like wonton soup and I don't know if I like pho)

Just get rid of the seasoning packets and season it yourself.

Buying food I don't like makes me sad, so It's hard for me to try new things. It's so much easier (or was) when I would eat with my wife etc and could try interesting things they liked and see if I liked it as well (usually didn't..hence why i'm shy about trying new stuff).

My taste buds did change over time and I grew to like things like mushrooms, brussle sprouts etc, but I can still pretty much list the number of foods I like (cooked in different ways) on my fingers and toes.

While I have never had instant ramen (commuted to college from home so I never had to eat on a shoestring budget that some college kids get trapped in), you seriously can't compare a $0.25 product to a $10 product.

Sure. It's kind of sucks. But you can always try it. Order a small amount to try. And if you don't like it, you can move on without wondering forever if you would have liked it or not. I've tried many foods I didn't like. It sucks, but it won't be the end of the world. Plus, who knows? You might even find your new favorite food...

The state is like 210ft wide, does it matter?

Seriously, though, I go all over it for good food. Both Bears Smokehouse are far from me. Idc, I still go.

I go to one every night. Prison. Mixing ramen with jalapeno poppers (spicy Cheetos from what they look like) seems to be the most popular one.

I actually wanna fuck with both the inmates and my co workers one night and bring in some ramen and start preparing it just like the inmates do. Jail house ramen can be good. Ive had before from a former friend that spent some time in jail

https://www.yelp.com/biz/kizuki-ramen-and-izakaya-tacoma

Supposedly they have good goyza as well, so I'll get both and that way even if i'm not over the hill for the Ramen, I'll still have something good.

You'all have inspired me.
