Buying food I don't like makes me sad, so It's hard for me to try new things. It's so much easier (or was) when I would eat with my wife etc and could try interesting things they liked and see if I liked it as well (usually didn't..hence why i'm shy about trying new stuff).

My taste buds did change over time and I grew to like things like mushrooms, brussle sprouts etc, but I can still pretty much list the number of foods I like (cooked in different ways) on my fingers and toes.

Sure. It's kind of sucks. But you can always try it. Order a small amount to try. And if you don't like it, you can move on without wondering forever if you would have liked it or not. I've tried many foods I didn't like. It sucks, but it won't be the end of the world. Plus, who knows? You might even find your new favorite food...
