All the ones I found dropped livers (I have that particular perk), but there were some does walking around with a single kidney, so I wonder what filthy water is causing those mutations. Anyway, finished the Sasau butcher's garbage; now to do the similar quest in Rattay. Then, the only quest I'll have left is the one about fistfighting.

Might try to rush through for that pacifist trophy after that.

Started doing the bumfighting quests and I got a Headcracker proc on the very first punch. Glad to know it has some use in this mode, and maybe later, during my pacifist run. Gotta remember to get some bludgeon action going.

Been playing it since before Christmas and only am just now finishing up the remaining sidequests. I thought it would be more like Skyrim, but it's more like a medieval RPG simulator, where your main character is bad at everything (fighting, reading, etc.) until they get tutelage under a learned person. The actual story is a bit on the simple side, but it's still pretty fun, with lots of memorable characters to like. It's certainly way better than its Metacritic rating suggests (I think it was at 68-69 when I looked a few days ago).

And, yeah, if you're interested in buying the game, you shouldn't read the other pages of the topic...lots of spoilers!

The priest, the charlatan, the lords (Hanush, Radzig, Divish), Robard and Bernard, Hans Capon, Matthew and Fritz, Theresa, Johanka... The core cast isn't gigantic, but they're all pretty decent, and even some of the one-offs are memorable (like that old whore from the Inn on the Glade).

Hmm, looks like I've done all the sidequests now. All that's left is a few more tournament pieces and getting to reading LV14 and I'll be good for a replay. Went and found all the Warhorse armor pieces yesterday on a nice li'l treasure hunt, too. Some were off in weird locations that I was surprised to have missed before, like that one hidden in a derelict mine entrance south of Vranik.

Yesss, got to reading Lv14. Now I can get the Cartographer perk and fill in the 0.1% of the map I couldn't before. Since I want to write a guide for this, I actually tend to make maps of the overworld first, and all those cloud illustrations that wouldn't go away were kinda annoying.

Had a ton of books saved up for skills that I already maxed out, but luckily, you can read those anyway. Almost had to schlep to the Uzhitz scribe and buy one-off books to read, haha.

You mean cropping off the empty portions? True, they're a waste of space right now, but the margins do become important when it comes time for annotations. Unless something's changed, GameFAQs doesn't accept maps that lack legends, the contributor's name, etc.

Not that particular image, no. It's actually just a half-scaled version of a larger map I used to test something. I wouldn't mind doing some submissions, though, especially treasure map rewards and conciliation cross/shrines would be nice. If I can get around to doing a guide, I'll make some other maps for other things, like mission-related stuff and (especially) free sleepsave spots.

I didn't even notice until today that nobody's written any guides for the game, which is kinda disappointing.

Been finding a bunch of crosses and shrines over the last few hours. I thought it would be way more difficult than it was, but all I have to do is search thoroughly and let my dog do the rest. This is the only time in the game I've really explored the "Seek!" command, and Mutt sure knows how to find these suckers. Wish I'd known that previously, 'cause it would've been useful at times.

Yeah, the dog does pretty well. Things you can do:

  • have the dog sic fleeing enemies, or do it in battle to interrupt enemies
  • hunt game (hares and deer are easiest; boars are hardest)
  • find interesting things, like crosses, graves, etc.
  • growl whenever enemies are near, even if you can't see them (a.k.a. hiding in bushes)
  • with a perk, you get a +1 charisma bonus for having a dog
You don't even have to feed it, honestly. I haven't fed it in weeks, and just checked its obedience level: 100! This also means that, since you can't take ever Houndmaster perk, you can just ignore the "Faithful Companion" one (get obedience bonus when it returns after getting its ass kicked in battle).

That sounds pretty sweet. As I said earlier, it's way better than the fate critics gave it, so having more people play is always good.

Meanwhile, I'm making some maps for stuff I like keeping track of. No treasure hunt stuff yet, since I already did those, but other important things, like battle/ambush sites for looting, sleepsave camps, shrines, etc. I'm particularly interested in revisiting a bunch of the "interesting sites," since I know you can occasionally find sleepsave beds there.

Okay, I've been having my dog on perma-seek mode lately and its discipline actually bottomed out for the first time! Not sure if there are other factors in play -- I did attack some camps as I was wandering -- but maybe throwing him a nonproverbial bone now and then is wise. The good news is, Cuman inventories are like medieval supermarkets, haha.

Ahh, this camp map is coming along at a nice clip. Not sure how I should classify poacher camps, though -- you can sleepsave there, but they eventually aggro if you don't skidaddle. There's just so few of 'em... In fact, I think I've only found two the whole game! (The other is SW of Vranik, IIRC.)

https://i.imgur.com/BWBl7nX.jpg

Any other worthwhile maps to make? Plant dispersion would probably be too ambitious, but maybe a miscellaneous map (graves, woodland gardens, nests, etc.)?

Whoa, I didn't know there was a back way into Pirkstein. I was randomly searching the underbrush below Rattay and found a sheltered little stream "port" with a stairway going all the way up the cliffs. This must connect to that lowest level of the castle, the one that's always guarded for some reason.

Maybe @DuranOfForcena knows this, since he just went through the DLC. You know how the Hans Capon quest takes you into the forest NW of Sasau, where everyone's hanging out and you infiltrate their gang? Do you know if there are bandits there normally (pre-DLC) or if it's just deserted/not there at all/etc.? Maybe @apolloooo can check this when he gets the DLC. It's a nice little area.

The camp is across the river, high up a hill past some charcoal burners. The location has some masonry and buildings, plus a campsite and a tunnel. I think all the DLC is automatically installed for me (on PS4), so I was curious if there's any baddies there normally. I don't think that area has too much out there normally -- maybe a couple interesting sites, at least two (off the top of my head) sleepsave spots, and a deer-hunting spot.

Checked that DLC encampment and found a few (generic) bandits there. Most of the camps and beds are gone, as well as the bevy of guards it had. The ruins themselves, and the tunnel, are still there, and so are the dice tables for some reason. I'm curious if these bandits respawn, since all of them have multiple special dice.

Pic dump time!

Some dead chicks in a mushroom fairy circle out in the west Uzhitz woods. The dog can sniff out accidents like this, too...which morbidly makes a lot of sense, actually. Mutt can also find nests, graves, interesting sites, fish traps, etc. He's truly a wonderdog.

Here's me exploring the world and finding a poacher. I killed him the first time and thought, "where does this guy sleep? I didn't see any beds." So, I reloaded and just watched him for hours in the night to see if his AI deviated somewhere, but naw, he just stood around. It's interesting to note that some owned beds actually belong to random wayfarers you see on the roads. I got kicked out of bed by one at the abandoned Skalitz mill (the one with bandits and a palisade), lol.

In my journeys, I found you can actually get back into Vranik's outer bailey post-battle. You just have to circle around to the northern gap in the palisade, stand on a barrel, and jump/glitch your way up to the walkway. There's no enemies here, just a few containers and sleepsave beds. The inner bailey, like the outer, has its gate locked for some reason, and doesn't seem accessible -- at least, by any method I could find.

Finally, another accident. This one isn't that far from a few others I found in the area (west Prabyslavitz woods), so I think this is part of my aborted "find the coinage source" mission that failed long ago. Next time through, I'll have to check correctly.

Anyone ever visited this site? It's in the woods SE of Vranik, up on a hill with a little dirt path leading to it. After closer inspection, it seems there's a giant treasure chest in a watchtower with no ladder, plus maybe a red shield of some sort. Maybe someone playing this on PC can noclip up there and check.

EDIT: Actually, that doesn't seem like a red-white shield, but a traffic cone. Maybe it's an easter egg?
EDIT: After a little digging, apparently you can wake up here after a drunken binge, lmao.

There's a little brush-covered thing that has some items inside, but there's no sleep tent or other stuff. It's a little out of the way. Honestly, I should dedicate an entire day to drinking this booze I've stockpiled, then see where you can wake up. I'm curious if they're all predetermined or the locations are done checklist-style, etc. That reminds me...the very first time I got hammered, I woke up west of Skalitz in the woods and never found that building again. Looked all over for it! Did find a random gamekeeper in a derelict hut, though, so maybe that was what I was thinking of...

Yeah, it's part of a main mission...I think. You're supposed to meet some merchant dude near Rovna and follow him, but I let it run too long and it just ended. Apparently there's some type of crash and bodies are everywhere (bandit attack?), so I guess that's the tail end of a bloodtrail investigation or something. Pretty sure that's around when you first meet that Don Quixote guy at the charcoal camp and have to rendezvous back at the Sasau inn.

I've gotten pretty good at masterstrokes, so I'll see how well that works with bludgeons. I don't think the no-kill stuff will be that bad, honestly -- same for autosaving as well, which I usually disable anyway (to keep the savefile list cleaner). Does the game still make saves in sleepsave camps? Or do you have to go the full Saviour Schnapps route?

And what's this about stew pots? I use those all the time instead of hunting which, I presume, doesn't count toward the no-kill stuff. Now that I have a crapload of battle site locations for money (and dried foods), maybe it won't be as bad as it could be. I'll have to see what the negative perks entail, though...it'd be nice to get that achievement squared away as well, but maybe it'll be too much. Hopefully nothing messes up the battle HUD or something (like when you have a visored helmet).

lol @ nightingale quest

I hate that quest and know the map well enough that I probably don't need the HUD, technically. It's only when you're roaming forests and such that it's easy to get lost, haha. I suppose without a compass, though, things may be more annoying than they seem. To be honest, a Hardcore mode + trophy hunt run would be as basic as humanly possible, so I doubt I'd even bother with the birdcages.

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

Daaaaamn, that sucks. They didn't nerf the cash you get from selling high-priced equipment, though, right? Scavenging off corpses and such should make up for the food annoyances, it sounds like.

No, no, I'd be foraging at battlesites -- spots that have high chances of spawning two feuding groups (traders, guards, Cumans, bandits, etc.). You can just wait for one side to murder the others and they'll just walk down the road, leaving you the goodies. After battle ends, you can just wait an hour to despawn the enemies (usually) to speed things up. But yeah, you can get thousands of dollars worth of swag if you're willing to be overencumbered. Since bandits/Cumans drop lockpicks and dried food, things might go easier.
