Yeah, I saw a locked chest nearby. I thought the herbalist's keys would unlock it, but naw.

Regarding Henry: he's actually kinda grown on me. He sounds stupid, and has a stupid, plain face, but he's a peasant who knows nothing about nothing, so...it's a little fitting. I want to give him high charisma just to see him wipe the floor with his dialogue opponents.

Perfect block and dodge are definitely life savers at times. Combos were less so but then I was on hardcore where perfect block is much more common from enemies

Just an FYI might want to pay the alchemist if you haven't done so already. He sends thugs to collect on the debt if you don't after awhile

When you were out for days after the boss fight an alchemist was giving medicine to the miller. You need to pay that alchemist in Rattay otherwise he sends people after you

Oh, I already paid off my debt via the miller's dialogue. I think that's what you're talking about.

oh man, yeah you gotta do the early main quests posthaste. you get essential combat techniques AND a free horse from a couple of them. it's not like Skyrim or whatever where you can just go and do everything in the world except for the main quest and be no worse off for it. i would recommend doing that ASAP.

and don't worry about where Bernard is right now, because he won't be able to train you in anything until you are directed to him by the main quest. he's Hanush' man-at-arms or whatever, so you'll be pointed directly to him once you get the relevant quest. i believe it's one of the quests immediately following the one that has you waking up at Miller Peschek's.

This. I believe the story will direct you to another town. Worst case scenario, follow the road out of the first major town and go north. The combat gets a lot easier after your training.

Dammit, just had my first crash of the game. Lost a bunch of progress while I was going to check on Matt and Fritz at their new job. I was just about to do a hard save, too, as soon as I could get back to the mill.

EDIT: Actually, I finished the "clear Fritz and Matthew's debt" quest, so the game did a free autosave. Good going, me!

Wow, Radzig was in that castle right near the town entrance. I thought he was in that big, far-off one where the DLC tournament's held. That's what I get for not map-marking the quest.

Okay, Bernie taught me how to do feints (couldn't I already do those?) and some other battle stuff, like dodging. Henry's been swordfighting with all the prowess of a newborn fawn, so I'm glad he's getting a little battle-hardened now. That poncy lord Capon challenged me twice and lost both the archery and swordfighting contest, lol. I should mention that Henry hasn't used a bow the entire game, so that was especially funny.

I have a crapload of good arrows from looting dead Cumans and bandits (mostly at that same crossroads south of Skalitz), so it shouldn't be too difficult to load up. Probably won't bother until I get a few archery perks, though.

I haven't had too much trouble with enemy archers so far, but yeah, they can be annoying in most games. Once I master some sword stuff, I'd like to work archery in, if only for variety.

Let's see...what have I done today... I went on rounds with Nightengale, now that I'm a full-fledged member of Radzig's band of merry men. Beat the crap out of Capon in a fistfight, too, and now Hanush is gonna make me squire for the clown. Not sure how that's going to go, but I'm expecting (a) an attempt on my life (b) an attempt on Capon's life and we become buddies afterwards.

Also, tried the sword tournament and lost, so that was a waste of time, prize-wise.

Not sure how to do clinches, but I should look it up. There's also some perks that increase clinch win% and stuff.

Made it skill based isntead. If your skill is higher the window become larger iirc.

They released mod kit last month i wonderif people are still interested even.

I should look into clinch stuff, 'cause I'm getting tired of 3-on-1 situations where assclowns are running faster than me, grappling, then kneeing me in the stomach and stuff.

Anyway, did some main quest stuff today. I went on a hunt with Hans, hunting hares and boars, only to wind up fighting the most dangerous game. The Cumans went down pretty well, and for my reward, I got given a horsey (Pebbles) to ride. I'm glad I don't have to carry herbs and crap all the way to it -- the inventory movement stuff is easy in this case. Also took a perk that makes my pony slower but with a larger inventory (weight?) limit.

Then, poor Neuhof got raided with a bunch of horses slaughtered and villagers murdered. I've been following the quest for several hours, and it's always ending up in people hiding in the woods. When does anything good happen in "The Woods"? I'm pretty sure that's a Norm MacDonald bit, haha. Anyway, I found some dude named Reeky in a mineshaft, but then three of Runt's thugs showed up and murdered us. Might try again later.

Can also do some kinda courtship quest with Theresa I keep putting off. Should go do that.

I have some good horseshoes ("Noble" ones), but no saddlebags yet. I'm guessing only a horsemaster or something can put the shoes on? I don't see an equip option anywhere, unlike the bridle and bags. If I ever start another game, I'd probably just steal a horse and use that early on.

Not much progress lately, other than

1) finding spots where bandits and Cumans fight, then looting their gear -- especially costly spurs
2) taking Theresa out to a nice restaurant and defending her honor
3) stealing for one of the millers, including a horse from a local stable
4) training with my boy Bernard so Henry isn't ending up as Sir Hot Garbage

If I'd known you can just swipe amazing horses from the get-go, I might've done that early on. There's a bunch of named horses there and...you can just jump the fence with 'em. Seems almost too easy.

So, Fritz and Matthew want me to get some revenge in Skalitz, and I have to dress up like Cumans. I go around to some Cuman camps, kill the lot of 'em, take their gear, then come back. Apparently, I'm not "Cuman" enough, and now I have to go talk to some random NPCs to find out about Cumans, even though I've bathed in their blood like it was Lake Minnetonka. This...feels like padding.

They're me mates, bless their hearts. It's always funny how Fritz, my "friend," constantly says hello in vulgar ways, though. Like, the type of ways you would greet your enemy.

Anyway, I feel dropping a pic dump. Here's BAEresa, wearing a dress so expensive, it could feed a family of four...hundred. Still worth it. Also, I finally figured out how to make my horse look like non-trash, so that's nice. I have 10K gold -- mostly from selling Cuman crap and spurs -- so I should just go buy the best horse over in Merhojed. I think it's Jenda or al-Buraq.



This was only interesting because it showed me poached meat/fur/etc. counts towards the Thief trophy. Just one more bonus in the favor of a permanent "hunt hares" command.


Some random guy had an oopsy-daisy. How do you like them apples? Haha... STABBING!


This is just me looting Cumans for ridiculous amounts of pricy gear. I can't imagine replaying this game without farming this spot.

Yeah, when you dump a bunch of crap all at once, the framerate has a heart attack. I didn't know what the hell was happening the first time I did that, but eventually I had that "ahhhh" moment. I dump old meat and stuff a lot more often nowadays, and in smaller doses.

I just dump it somewhere and let it despawn. I'd be lucky to get 10 groschen for most of that poison...although, I do have that perk that lets you eat anything with no negative effects. Tossing it just makes more sense, 'cause I don't want to button-mash it in a menu and accidentally feed it to Mutt.

Didn't play much yesterday, but I'm back in the saddle again. Speaking of which, while dashing through the thicket, my horse fell off a cliff and landed right in a Cuman camp. Killed 'em all! Granted, some were in a state of undress, but still. My archery's slowly getting better, too, so I can usually wound someone as they approach. I think successful hits inflict bleeding, yes?

I noticed long-distance arrows are the best, but I never find 'em in bundles like other types, so they just get thrown in the stash. Honestly, I'm disappointed there aren't any bow perks like the other weapon types.

Randomly found a spot where some sidequest guy wanted me to find his nightingales, but I dunno where to put these stupid birdcages. Their squawking is pretty damn annoying, so I'm surprised anyone would keep these within two kilometers of their household.

Okay, finished the nightingale (trash) quest and have been doing Stephanie of Talmberg's crap I started almost two weeks ago. It turns out that random dead guy -- Martin Vasdlsdfsk or something -- is the courier who was supposed to bring a gemstone for her crown. Good thing I still remember where he was killed. Hopefully finding him early hasn't banjaxed the mission in some way, since this is the 12th and final step or something.

The woods? I mean, when I was first hoofing through there at night, I'd keep getting ganked, and since I couldn't change equipment, I was fighting with a torch + longsword. Henry pushed many daisies up that day. Ever since I started riding on Warhorse Jenda, I can outrun all opponents, so nighttime antics are a lot less annoying.

Yeah, the nightingale stuff didn't even explain properly. I dropped cages as a random thought and it worked, but I spent more than enough time looking for a prompt on tree stumps, etc. I know the game has a rudimentary feel to it, but things like this should've been patched.

And now Hans is asking me to come down to the baths, saying he'll bring guests. I can only assume this will be more wench action, but damn, let a feller be somewhat faithful. I'm gonna buy her some new dresses to make up for plot-induced stupidity.

Also, one of the quests I took is to find jobs: one cook, three waterbearers, three feces extraction specialists. This has the makings of a good one.

That makes sense. Henry sucks at literally everything besides picking flowers, so you have to wait awhile for melee training, good loot opportunities, etc.
