And the real reason I did this was because I actually watched some stuff thanks to my boyfriend

Sarazanmai was fun, totally ridiculous but once you got past that it had some cool stuff going on. I teared up at a few points, which I didn't expect for a show centered around desire balls in the anus.

And The Boy and the Beast, which I'd been meaning to watch but hadn't gotten around to. Pretty gorgeous in a lot of spots, and the story went in some ways I wasn't expecting. I liked the relationship between Kyuta and Kumatetsu.

I would have probably said Fall for sure if Beastars counted, but since it doesn't I have to actually think about it...

I mean it kind of does? It transcends beyond season limits, it can be 2 seasons.

Also I realized today that if they don't delay it or anything, the final episode will premiere on Christmas I think. Pretty funny.

It's mostly the sequels/continuations that I'm watching and really enjoying.

Dr Stone, MHA, Fire Force, Vinland Saga.

As for new shows I really like... No Guns Life, OreSuki, and the wrestler isekai.

I assume he's talking about Kemono Michi, wrestler who loves animals gets isekai'd into a fantasy world and decides to become like a pet shop owner

Kemono Michi is entertaining. Its primary flaw is that almost the entire cast is one-note characters to an even greater extent than people joke about Konosuba's main girls being that way.

And yeah, it's pretty trashy.

Also between OreSuki, Hoshiai no Sora, Babylon, After School Dice Club and (if you're fine with trashy lowbrow isekai comedy) Kemono Michi, this season is pretty solid even without looking at sequels and such tbh

I still need to check out Hoshiai no Sora nad catch up on Babylon. Dice Club is p fun but I figure every CGDCT fan was already watching it, and it's not going to change anyone's mind on the genre.

It's the sequel slate that's very strong. Chihayafuru S3 and High Score Girl S2 (both shows that are behind Netflix dumb distribution policy) are like AotY candidates. Psycho-Pass S3 (Amazon) is also very good. MHA S4 and Food Wars S4 are also enjoyable (they are still in the good part of Food Wars.) There's also SAO Alicization S2, where I don't think it's as good as the first part, it's still decent.

After that you have a few strong newcomers. I think the best new show is Welcome to Demon School. It's a great comedy with an extremely likable cast. I think Beastars and Hoshiai no Sora are also good shows, but I do have some minor gripes with them that stop be from putting them as like the best of the season. Of course you have Oresuki which is great.

A little further down you have a bunch of good to decent shows like Ascendance of a Bookworm (which progressively gets better after you kind of slog through a couple of meh episodes), Over Cautious Hero (which does have kind of a lull in the middle but the recent episodes have been great), and FGO (which is decent).

Also yes, Rifle is Beautiful and After School Dice Club are bad. My god.

Rifle is Beautiful is like among the least frames of animation I have seen in a show. After School Dice Club is just undeniably boring. There is like no banter of character being shown when they are playing the games and that makes the focus of the show extremely dull.

A Certain Scientific Accelerator anime beated. Pretty relentlessly mediocre. Accelerator himself is generally entertaining, but there were whole episodes without him! Pretty much every character other than him and Last Order was shit, and she barely got any screentime. The whole thing that makes Accelerator interesting is his dynamic with her, so why not have her around more? Accelerator wasn't as great as he could've been either. Too much ranting about being a villain, not enough doing vaguely villainous things. He usually has such cool powers, and he doesn't really do anything cool with them here.

The villains were incredibly lame. DA was just dumb with their obsession with justice - it's a whole organization whose core idea is that the ends justify the means, and yet they HAVE no ends. They just go around murdering innocents and kidnapping girls for justice - they never say what this justice is, but they go around doing it anyway. For literally no reason. The other villains at least had motivations, but they sucked anyway. Pretty ridiculous to have villains specifically obsessed with discovering the memories of 10000 deaths. I know they wanted to fit it in to connect it to Accelerator himself, but it felt way too forced.

I like all the seasons of Index and Railgun much more than Accelerator.

Accelerator felt a lot like a Railgun filler arc.

I thought the Accelerator anime was more good than bad, but they really have to do some contortions to make it so that things seem to be a threat to him. Also, the action sequences are simply not as good as the ones in Railgun.

I mean as of season 3 it almost feels like they actually did that.

Season 3 was not good anyways because it was super rushed, but that part was nice.

Hmmm, 12 shows watched this year, 4 of which are sequels.

This is...probably going to be another year where I don't participate? Oh well. The only new show I'm particularly passionate about from the ones I saw was The Promised Neverland anyway.

Feel free to give me any recommendations from the year though just in case I get motivated to watch more stuff over my vacation or something.
