Im watching Yaiba. Ive seen like 8 episodes now I think and its pretty good though theres not much in the way of amazing characters yet. Tanjiro is likable enough, but I havent really met the other supporting cast still I guess.

As for DB Super Im up to the RoF arc. Vegeta is amazing in Super so far and somehow Goku seems even dumber than ever and also just kind of really annoying when he isnt fighting since he acts like some 4 year old with ADD. Mr. Satan can be mildly annoying at times too, but hes got a heart of gold when it comes to his family at least. Its kinda wholesome watching him play with Pan & Great Saiyaman.

The new We Can't Study/We Never Learn OP is so good.

There isnt. I just always expect them to happen because they do most of the time.

I finished The Demon Girl Next Door, aka the best anime of last season (which, admittedly, isn't saying much given how little I've watched this year). Shamiko and Momo were a great pair and the show maintained a consistently fun tone throughout. All of the side characters were great too, though a few were sadly underutilized compared to how much potential they had. I wanted to see more of the girl from the magic club! Still, I don't want to complain too much because anime like this is always a pleasure to watch.

Finished Index Season 3

Overall that was not good but the last arc was reasonably entertaining. Still some pretty significant issues--mainly that I still have no idea what happened and that the show had a tendency for characters to get up on a soapbox and philosophize about god only knows what. However the grand scope was still pretty fun overall. Also seeing Accelerator in maximum edge mode was great as usual, especially when he teamed up with edgy Misaka for even more hilarity. Also his scenes with Last Order still carried some actual emotional weight which was nice. Accelerator probably actually my favorite character in the series at this point. Hamazura also turned out to be a pretty good character imo.

Its a shame because Zenitsu actually has some decent stuff as a character....it just only happens when hes out cold. A shame hes so shit otherwise though and I feel like they just spend way too much time giving him screen time to cry and repeat the same sentences over and over

Zenitsu takes a bit to get going. The anime makes that a lot harder to tolerate from the start. If I didn't know what he had later I would have been much less tolerant.

If you don't like Inosuke from the get go then don't know what to tell ya.

The show was nothing special to begin with and also there were many different negative factors all appearing at once. Zenitsu being annoying is just the easiest thing to point to.

So sounds like it's just not your thing.

More specifically the show was trending away from a dark adventure/mystery and towards a more formulaic action-adventure/comedy (which was manifesting in a number of ways) and I just stopped caring.

Since I stopped watching I can't say for sure whether it went all the way in that direction--maybe this was just a one-time weird arc and after this the show returned to the status quo.

I'll probably never know though. (Or maybe I will? After all I just watched 12 episode of Index S3 this weekend despite having that on hold for several months...)

No, it's absolutely a battle shounen. It does get pretty dark and gorey in some of the fights, but it's never not a battle shounen. I mean, they yell their attacks and everything.

I would place it firmly in the battle shounen category. I can see how it didn't appear to be at first though.

I dunno, would you say the start of season 3 was "in a fun way"? They tried something there and really couldn't care less.

It's super difficulty to make a recap work, even under justification through narrative. Off the top of my head, there's Re:Creators, and....uhhhh....

So Chihayafuru S3 seems to be having its premiere whatever the date is and then appears to be doing ep 2&3 the following week and 4&5 the week after probably to make up for the late start it has this season

Just give me the whole season I want it all now.

But yeah I'm happy about this since it will start off the season at a faster pace.

No lie I watched the episode without any subs on just to see how it shaped up

There's details that they take out that make me sad as a manga reader but overall I wanna say it's a good episode? It's hard for me to be totally unbiased about it, but they do some real neat stuff and of course visually it still looks good
