Only minor annoying thing to me so far is they really arent showing off Barrets foul mouth at all which makes me worry he might have been significantly toned down, but I guess well see in 6 months

Could possibly be Troy Baker as well who has also worked with Square before. Theyre the only two I can imagine that voice coming from.

They really are expanding on the lore:

-SOLDIER chasing them on bike, one-time guy or going to be another dogged pursuer?
-those weird ghost-things attacking sector 7
-ghostly horse-gladiator thingy (when Shiva gets summoned), Train Graveyard boss fight?
-Turk fights in the chuch
-Hot Aerith reveal, damn
-Squats and pullups fuck yeahhhh

Yeah curious about this myself. The only negative so far is that I still can't get used to Barrett's voice.

It was something to do with how the dialogue cut together. Like these random voice clips all pushed together so close they're practically talking over each other delivering not very good dialogue. I don't want to cringe while playing a videogame. Also the weirdly breathy voice acting, especially at the beginning (hence why I said "first half").

I did kind of see this reaction coming, but it was worse than I expected. It did get better later on and brought it back a little though.

Cheesy dialogue is a Final Fantasy staple. If anything it's a positive sign they're doubling down on it.

Sounds like a great excuse to get Yuffie into Midgar. Like upon hearing Shinra's lies, she goes to Midgar to investigate and then you find her sneaking into Shinra HQ.

I doubt that'll happen, but I am wondering if they'll add more temporary characters. Midgar only has Cloud, Aeris, Tifa, and Barret for 95% of it, with Red XIII showing up at the last minute. The obvious choice for temp characters are the other Avalanche people.

I had this feeling when I was playing it a few years back. There's a specific scene later in the game that opened my eyes to it. When they're on the airship and they reprise the "no getting off the train we're on" line, it was very cheesy/goofy and I did wince ever so slightly, but not much. It had charm because it's not voice acted.

I can buy the idea that it's "not a reason to not play the whole game". I admit that, especially here, the extent to which I see this as an issue is a little abnormal. But you're contradicting yourself a bit there if you're saying the dialog "didn't sound good", was "stilted" and "sounds like it's from a Saturday morning cartoon" but somehow these aren't problems.
