As a long time observer of this topic I have seen more direct insults from a lot of people than Cyclo and people I'd less want to engage as well. Not saying he is never bad or I think he could improve, but he certainly isn't an outlier. A lot of people who swear and insult others in this topic!

I don't think that's an accurate read on Corrik either.

Corrik has a set of "rules" he looks at everything through, one of which being "if it's legal it's automatically more morally good", and anything that doesn't fit he straight-up can't comprehend.

I can mostly agree with that I guess. I think my realist side just kinda defaults to doing one of the things I complain about, holding liberals to a higher standard than conservatives. Liberals are the ones easily swayed and turned off of candidates, to the detriment of the world as a whole, so when you have someone coming across as unreasonable like Cyclo, even if hes less nasty (though SEP is right about the cop stuff), it still comes across worse because liberals actually have standards and might take umbrage with what hes saying. The nonservatives can get away with advocating for bombing the Middle East and permanently imprisoning Hispanic children, because while liberals think its vile, no one on the right has any standards, and just accepts those beliefs.

tl;dr I perhaps hold Cyclo to an equal standard to demonstrably-worse people on the right because HIS actions might actually have a negative impact on his own side of the argument.

My problem with Bernie and nuclear is that its a signal that hes not thinking seriously about what itll take to solve this issue and the sacrifices it will take, and hes making it even harder by proposing we tie one hand behind our back. Making bold goals is useless if you dont have a realistic plan for reaching them. Basically, its like our house is burning down, but Bernie doesnt want to use water to put out the fire because its going to cause water damage. So instead he promises to smother the flames with dirt, and while hes doing that the whole things reduced to ashes.

Politically speaking Barack Obama may just have been the biggest failure as a President ever, by the way. Not accounting for morality just pushing agenda/legacy of political victories, his administration opened up the way for an absurd tidal wave of Republican support in state senates and houses, and still I must watch people make these insane excuses for not liking Bernie. Your practical approach has been tried. It has already failed. You stand in the ashes of the house already, not Bernie. We got Trump because of people like you. The democratic leadership is not fighting for every day Americans because people like you. We have people die due to lack of insurance every year and it isn't a non-starter, because people who don't die are fussing over things because the media is sponsored by the health insurance industry and so the news, where people should be able to become informed, is slanted.

The system is rigged. Do not dare accuse Bernie fucking Sanders of not taking it seriously. You know what used to happen in the old days, as they say? Guy proposes something, you don't a part of it, you counter offer. You meet in the middle. Now it is "Well I don't like this, so fuck it" and it is just dumb. Bernie Sanders is one of the only people in this entire country who knows how to start in a position of strength and then maybe find a middle ground somewhere.
