Like Celestia, this character is all design, and even more extremely than Celestia. GJ is one of the most awesome ideas this game had. Suddenly that girl who sucks is the Ultimate Serial Killer, and now she is hanging out with the other kids, boasting about scissors and murders and blood. It's surreal. It's delicious. It's one of those legendary meme moments, like interrogating a parrot. And her dialogue.... is absolutely hilarious. She randomly goes on about how fun killing people is, then about how she loves Byakuya and/or wants to stab him to death (even Byakuya can't hide he's scared of her), then she goes pornographic, but not too much to overstay her welcome like Toko. And she never kills or is killed, so she just stays there, as the friendly neighborhood serial killer. And to top it all, you learn she never had her memory wiped out, but she didn't say anything because nobody asked. She probably remembers all of the last 2 years. That raises a lot of questions. She is just in to enjoy herself, maybe kill a pretty boy or two, and scare the shit out of everyone. You can't help but smile every time she's on the screen. The guy is a complete psycho. He sets up a murder scene on Case 2 just because it is fun. He loses his shit in Case 4 just because he is not the one solving the murder. And in both of those occasions he convinces you he is a likely killer, because it's hard to proccess the fact he's just that much of a dick. I think the first time he ever mellows out is in the ending scene, where he says if you call him for help he might listen. Before that he never drops his attitude, that he's doing everything for himself and himself only. I think my biggest frustration is how he never became a killer, because he would have been a great one. I wanted to slowly wipe out that smug smile out of his face. And it could have been very close to a perfect murder, because Byakuya is almost as good a detective as Kyoko, so he wouldn't make obvious mistakes. Instead, he realizes the game is rigged against him, and that he would be better off trying to break it, and that causes him to kind of fall into the background compared to Makoto and Kyoko. He still gets some moments though, like controlling Case 5 and trying to get Makoto/Kyoko executed, and later on finding out his family got wiped out, and quickly recovering from it. He has an intersting story, too. Free Time implies he's not just born rich, but had to earn his right to be a heir by working hard. He is talented and hard-working, and proud of it. But like Kyoko says, his lack of empathy is his biggest weakness. I gotta respect characters who are such jerks they make you despise them. And Byakuya is not only that, but he makes the game more interesting by being in it. He is a very strong presence, both as a detective and an antagonist. Sakura was killed by the only person who could kill Sakura: herself. Two other characters tried, it was futile. Before going down, she challenged Monokuma to combat, the same Monokuma who threatened to impale to death anyone who attacked him. She made a vow to resist him, then broke a door she wasn't allowed to, and killed herself. Because of that, she created the spark of Hope that initiated the revolution. She convinced even Byakuya to stop plotting against the others. She was the absolute MVP of this game, both in the creating the motivation, and providing the actual tool they need to start the revolt (the unlocked door). I can only imagine Junko's face as that juggernaut smashed the Headmaster's door to try to find her. It'd wager the kids could have stood a chance by winning just with Sakura's strength, had she not killed herself. Sakura even had a deleted execution scene that so cool it was showed off in Monokuma Theater. I don't have much more to say. You start being stupid in front of her and she will shut you down. She would often just say whatever I was thinking and wanting to say, except they put it into her mouth because apparently Makoto is forbidden from saying anything that is not deduced from a mini-game. She is the real protagonist of this game, and the one who makes the biggest deductions, and the best bluffs. The game would be much better if they just ditched Makoto and let you be her. Maybe ditched those mini-games along with Makoto. The point is, Kyoko just conducting the trials and making them more logical and less annoying gave me such a strong impression it made me love the character. Her being ahead of the entire whole cast in terms of figuring out the plot did, too, because that's another case of her doing what the players wants to do. If anything, my grip with her is that she takes too long to start trusting Makoto, so you don't learn about those snippets of plot as fast as she does. Theres also some boring little game connected to it thats kinda tedious/repetitive. Id at least watch the School Mode scenes for everyone you didnt get to see all the scenes for in the story. You can also get Genocide Jill FT events if you trudge through all of Toko's, but you can only do those when GJ is available in the main game. (You are free to jump back to those chapters.) Kind of like Spiral Power in Gurren Lagann. Maybe lucky people are more hopeful or something. And I'm the one who forgot their talent this time. Nagito is alright. In a way he's a second Makoto but I'm expecting some hidden depths. We got a 2D overworld now. Not sure if this is an improvement. Byakuya is a stone wall.
