So just as it says, how many here are happy with their insurance coverage. If you're happy with your coverage please state why you are and if you're not happy, again state why you aren't.

It's better than nothing, I guess. I'm not paying anything for it, but the deductible is high enough I can't really afford to go to the doctor for anything less than an emergency. And they don't let me go to the doctor or hospital I'd prefer.

Nope. I work in a goddamn military hospital bit I have to pay for 50% of my own shit out of pocket, plus it doesn't cover my dependants.

Yes, it's better than anyone else's I've ever met.
No copays or fees. Just $70 in dues taken out of every other biweekly check.

Yeah! It's really inexpensive and my copay is only slightly higher than my parents who pay much more.
The only thing I don't like is that it takes like 4 years to get vision insurance. My union provides a discount matching insurance prices though, so it balances out.

It also doesn't cover me being seen at the base, so yeah. If I got hurt there I would have to be transported to a civ hospital or pay out of pocket.

Ehhh... Its ok, I guess. I mean, I havent tried their vision yet. But health is ok. Dental is good-ish. But they only cover so much.

If I switch back to my military insurance, I wont have to pay anything. But the doctors arent the best, either...

I'm not displeased with it, just wish it would make up their minds. "This prescription is 20 dollars. Now it's 5. Now it's 54. Next time it'll be free"

I can't plan for this. Dental is its own demon.

I was before the ACA significantly raised my premium. Had I known you'd someday be able to take insurance AFTER you had a major health problem and it wouldn't even hurt your rates, I would have foregone health insurance for... well, to this day. After all, why buy insurance in case something will happen if you can get the same coverage at the same rate after it happens?

....it's not free, you're just paying more in taxes. Well, in your case it WOULD be free because you don't work, but you're likely already eligible for free healthcare in the US because you don't work.

Because if you're hospitalized suddenly and you don't have insurance, you're screwed. A few years ago I had to have emergency lung surgery because of a bacterial infection. The hospital billed the insurance company nearly $200,000! I'd have had to deal with that myself if not for insurance.

Yes. In the almost 20 years at my current job, I've had to see a doctor less than 5 times. I pay nothing every paycheck, and my out of pocket has been maybe $500 total. My dental fully covers all the routine cleanings and x-rays, so I've paid $0 for the entire time I've had this job.

Well the coverage is ok. But I live in a shitty area. With the comapany Id pay 0 premium but now that I quit my cobra will be about $1000 a month.

However my deductible is paid for us by one of my wifes medications. So we only pay for things that go through before the deductible and out of pocket maximums are reached each year which is typically a few hundred dollars.

but now that I quit my cobra will be about $1000 a month.

That depends on where you live. Single moms can get free health insurance quicker than men in most blue states.

G.I. Joe. agrees

Also I had a job where we were offered Cobra. It was $1850 a month. It's like working just to pay your health insurance. The boss at the time just took their first offer. She said "I didn't know you could negotiate your prices!"

tbh, I'm not sure why government organization would think it prudent to effectively name themselves for a snake (since these names are generally chosen for the acronym).

At any rate, I thought COBRA was a temporary insurance program for people who lost their job and therefore their employer-sponsored healthcare. Was it something your company was doing because it phased out another healthcare plan and was going to bring a new one in?

Yes, when I had to decide on my health insurance I had a choice between getting the same crappy coverage I had at my last company but not paying anything for it, or paying the same amount I payed at my last company and getting way better coverage. I went with the latter, even though I haven't really used my health care in about 5 years (except for some nasal steroids I needed last year for a sinus infection).

Extremely happy. I pay very little per month for very good insurance. In the past two weeks I had two visits to my primary care doctor, a spinal adjustment, and multiple blood panels done and it only cost me 20 bucks.
