Perhaps the women get more viewers because theyre actually one of the best teams out there, the men are "above average/pretty good" most of the time. But outside of the world cup nobody cares about the women's team. The men draw higher rankings in random friendly matches and stuff like the Gold Cup, too, I assume. Thats just with US audiences, and my own assumptions. As far as overall, the mens world cup, worldwide, i assume, draws in tens of millions more in terms of views. not just because its a longer tournament, plenty more people care. But the pay scale should be based off of TV ratings and not skill. Engineers have an expected wage and earn a degree to get those $$. Almost any woman can have a kid and it takes NO TALENT. It takes skill and knowledge to be an engineer. Is the only time we value someone when we can exploit them for our benefit? That's always been my beef with the 'engineers are more valuable than children' argument. If you don't spend the money on those supposedly 'worthless' children in regard to parenting, teaching, etc., then you don't get those 'valuable' engineers. Engineers make something that yields returns, a favour given is returned. A child offers zero return on funds invested, the child has no obligation to make returns. Children are an investment in care, the work of the mother (because apparently men aren't involved) is returned with love and loyalty. Child rearing isn't financially rewarding but it has its own incentives to drive creation and training of the child.
