This guy that Drogon had already been shown to hate killed his mom and he attacks a chair and runs off. That's not intelligence and understanding.

There is no way to read that scene other than Drogon suddenly understanding complex power dynamics and that Dany deserved to die. You can argue that's dumb as hell but Drogon's actions are not those of a stupid animal.

At the VERY LEAST Drogon has one of the healthiest ways of handling grief in the entire series, which is also kinda hilarious

I don't get all the talks about Bran being the NK. Like, when did that start becoming a thing / theory in the show and why?

I genuinely think it is just because the night king kind of looks like him. There is just no legitimate reason to think that Bran is a character that doesn't even exist in the books or is somehow in control of the white walkers. They are just old magical weapons of the children of the forest that have re-awakened, with fire magic like the dragons and the lord of light seemingly returning around the same time. The question is what triggered the return of magic, which had seemingly been dormant in Westeros. People have theories but we don't really know.

I mean it's not just that. There were other things. The Bran the Builder stuff. The NK potentially being a Warg. The NK seeming to know how shit would happen for no reason like he knew the future already. Sam being left alive by White Walkers when he could have been killed. The countless times Jon could have been killed but wasn't. His obsession with Bran too and how he was able to mark him.

Like obviously we know all that stuff ended up being nothing but there was certainly things to potentially tie the NK being Bran or being someone with knowledge of the situation or having some sort of link to Bran.

I can also buy that Drogon respects Jon as a Targaryen or can magically empathize with him because of dragon magic nonsense, but none of what allows dragons to bond with Targaryens is ever explained so who knows

It's obvious that Drogon suddenly developed a pretentious artistic streak and felt like the best way to influence the world was to destroy the throne in a "powerful" and "impactful" statement that wouldn't affect anything but would give douchebags for generations to come a moment to feel good about themselves for "understanding"

Watched 4&5 yesterday and just finished watching the finale. It's a fine ending, though I almost felt like they finished it with a little too neat of a bow. I appreciate that they went the Mad Queen Dany route, though I wish they had built it up more gradually. Cleganebowl was not very hype but served its purpose, I guess. Overall the last season felt kind of sloppy, the major plot points were fine and it was certainly a spectacle, but there's a lot more to nitpick than there was in the best seasons. At least it's an ending, which is more than the Gurm can ever give us.

Hmm I don't think any of the people that posted those theories that were right actually read the leaks..I believe them.
People come up with much weirder stuff, someone predicted "hold the door" like in season 3
And other stuff that didn't happen but was a popular theory, Arya using Jaime face to kill Cersei

More I think about it the more I like that Tyrion/Jon scene. And the little callback to "every time he killed someone he felt more powerful and right" from the video above more or less summed up why Daenerys had to go.

Good acting by KH in the throne room scene too imo. You see his realization that she's totally gone off the deep end.

So Jon is Beyond The Wall, Sansa is in the North, Bran is the ruler of 6 Kingdoms. So pretty good for Starks actually!

Also does anyone knows what happened to the Dothraki? I guess they went back to their home?

I'm sure Bronn would happily give part of the Reach to the Dothraki.

Anyway, as a stand-alone episode, it was easily the best episode of the season for me. As a season finale, let alone a series finale though, it fell flat, ineffective, rushed, and easy. I was glad they went where I thought they would go and destroyed the Iron Throne. I don't understand however, why they then felt the need to still have one king for all Seven Kingdoms. Oh wait, Six, because the North doesn't give a fuck, even though they get a Stark king and all the other houses had to deal with all that shit as well yet happily kneel once more? (as a plot hole, I thought it was pretty funny how both Arryn and Royce got a vote, even though we all know they're just there to represent the Vale, meaning they get two votes).

I actually thought the episode was really good until Dany's death (which I didn't hate or anything), but every scene after that just felt so much like a bowtie ribbon around the plot. I genuinely want to hit the dude who wrote "A Song of Ice and Fire, y'know, book reference teeeheeee" as well.

Also every Arya scene post episode 3 was a tremendous waste of time and actually, considering how her story ends, her entire character "arc" might've been a waste of time. Her entire story leads to her killing the Night King. That's it.

I do wish there'd been a shot of Drogon and Dany's corpse near Asshai, but I guess nobody would've understood it anyway, although they could've had Sam finish his sentence and all the book readers could've gone "Oooooooh".

It was a bit weird to me that Sansa was like "the north will never accept another king". I feel like they might make a special exception if it was literally a Stark on the throne.

She's basically saying "the north will never be ruled by a Stark and must instead be ruled by a Stark." Like I would understand if it was literally anyone else but it seems a bit strange that they're taking their ball and going home when it is Bran on the throne.

When it was happening live I said no way does Sansa accept Bran as king because once again she would be getting looked over. I saw it more as her own personal battle rather than the north as a whole

Also surprised Yara didn't do the same.

the king would be beholden to all of the seven kingdoms(and especially after Bran). The North doesn't give a shit about anyone but the North.

Said this before, but the other kingdoms would never accept an independent Iron Islands because of their propensity for violence and invading. They are basically a part of this so they could be kept in check. Very much a "Join or be destroyed" scenario for them.

I mean, every halfway competent knight other than Brienne is probably dead by now. They need someone who isn't complete shit to be on the Kingsguard. Sansa will be fine, the North is a peaceful place where everyone loves the Starks unconditionally and there's no risk of internal turmoil ever.
