a lot of issues between him and the front office. Issues over not playing bagley enough. Im sure our post all star break record has to do with it. We blew multiple 20 point lead games. He did a lot of good for our team that was bad, but there was a lot of issues with him too. Questionable rotations.

I like Jager, but I get it. Unlike the previous couple, I would be fine if he stayed, but I get it. Its not a Malone situation where I am pissed

Okay so Im just jumping into the NBA for the Playoffs. Havent paid attention all season

Can I get a brief recap of what happened with Anthony Davis and the Lakers, or should I just Google it?

The Lakers essentially offered their entire team except for Lebron for Davis. Pelicans declined. Lakers morale bombed. Lakers declined that offer was ever on the table.

Pelicans were unlikely to deal as Boston couldn't make an offer. This was due to Kyrie's contract and some rule with have 2 or more rookie extension contracts or some shit, they couldn't make an offer for Davis until the summer when Kyrie's contract is up for renewal and no longer the rookie extension.

Oh the rule is the Designated Rookie contract rule. You can't have more than 1 Designated Rookie contract on your books that was obtained via trade (you can have multiple if you drafted the rookie). Irving and Davis are both currently on that type of contract

Yeah the celtics from what I understand can put together a more valuable package than the lakers can once this season is done anyway, and the lakers knew it which is why they pushed so hard to get AD before the celtics could enter the fray.

I never heard that they denied that offer was even on the table though, that's pretty stupid when magic came right out and told the players via media "Get over it, we'll trade if you we feel like it."

Honestly it's good for the lakers that magic is gone because he also came out afterwards and accused the pelicans of dealing in bad faith, which certainly wouldn't help the lakers chances next time around if he were still in charge.

It's very unlikely, I just think those are very long odds given the past 2 months of play. The Magic are 10-2 in their last 12 games and 22-9 in their last 31.

If the NBA was seeded off the last 2 months the Magic would be a 2 seed (Bucks would still be 1). The Magic have also beaten all top 5 seeds in the east within the last 2 months.

The top 5 seeds have essentially been playing for nothing for the last 2 months, though.

I'll be the least surprised person if the Raptors choke to the Magic because that'd be incredibly on brand for the Raptors, but I'd put their odds to come out of the East at a comfortable 0%.

I don't agree with that. Not everyone is the Warriors and seeding matters. And the Celtics sure looked like they were playing for nothing when they went stupid hard and lost 2 players to injury in a game that literally had no meaning to them as they were already locked in at 4.

So I'm pretty sure for games that did actually have meaning on standings, teams were still trying to win.

I'd say the likely outcome is Raptors 4-1 or Raptors 4-2. I just don't think we are the rank outsiders in an 8 team race.

They have the Nets and Pacers at +2500 and Pistons at +4000.

detroit only has to face one of philly/raptors - both celtics and bucks are injured

nets have a chance that raptors get upset in round 1, plus embiid may be <100% right now.

kawhi and the spurs were up 20 in game 1 in 2017 before his injury, and i think the raptors are more complete + the warriors are worse now than they were that year.

raptors this year are arguably more complete than the rockets last year, too.

I'll be happy with anything except a sweep for what it's worth. Just making the playoffs is huge for us. Get some playoff experience for our young guys and then hope we can build on it next year.

With our cap situation I can't see any major changes for us this summer so we're likely running a very similar team next year and we will be hoping Bamba/Fultz contribute something

No. Both teams are playing well so far. Most of the Raptors points have been from Kawhi or assisted by Kawhi (13 of 19)

Back to back 3's gives Raptors a little bit of breathing room. 25-20 now

30-25 at the end of the 1st.

Hoping the refs start to show a little more consistency with what they call fouls. Seeing some heavy contact plays not getting called and then some really soft stuff called. Hopefully they pick which side of the spectrum they want to be on and stick with it.

The Raptors notoriously rarely have calls go their way so the Magic must get really fucked by the refs for them to get it even worse.

I don't think it's necessarily being called unfavorably, just not consistently. Raptors probably have a slight edge from the refs but nothing super bad, just typical home team advantage really.

Like I don't think either charge on the Magic should have been charges and I think Birch was a little unlucky to have a block called a foul but they are marginal calls.

It's more that you'll see a shit ton of contact and nothing gets called and then there will be really minor contact like a play later and they call it.
