Anyone else get this feeling?

All of this NN breaking is really sobering to the fact that the gamefaqs voters are finally, definitively changing after 15+ years. If you think about it, for those of us who were 15-16 when the contests started, we are literally seeing people that age voting who were not even born yet making their mark here.

Let's all retire.

Man I was 20 in 2002. Anyways my first contest was in 2003 and I took part in all contests since then. 2003-2004-2005 was the golden age for FF 7. Fun times.

Maybe but N9 is being broken since 2007, if you ignore all the goalpost moving.

It's just that during this time we really hadn't had a consistent read of what's strong anymore, so N9 remains this pantheon of strong characters who can beat everything else but also loses at random times.

Hopefully after this contest we have a consistent read of what is strong now.

I don't know why people get so upset (to the point of wanting contests to end entirely) because gamefaqs voters have changed who they vote for slightly.

Like, did you just want the bracket to be the same old thing after 16 years? I love that it's unpredictable!

GameFAQs voters are smart, but maybe not that smart. It still hurts Snake's "relevance" as Leon has been calling it.

If you look at the history of the poll, an increasing percentage of the site is buying newer games after they go on sale or they can buy a used copy at a cheaper price. This suggests that less and less people are willing to pay the full $60 price on most games now. In addition to that, fewer people are buying new games at launch (or very close to launch), which means that the most popular games will take longer than usual to build up a good playrate on this site.

In the case of BotW, there's also the issue of having to buy a completely new system to play the game if you didn't already own a Wii U.
