Apparently mine has a cavity. They gave me some antibiotics to hold me over until next week(I want to be able to actually eat on Thanksgiving....).

I imagine it's just a lot of pain and suffering, but what was your experience having it removed like?

I was put under with gas and woke up shortly after. Felt like 2 minutes. I had all 4 teeth removed.

I was pretty loopy for half the day, had some aching periodically. Bleeding. Had gauze in my mouth though to soak it up. Couldnt eat much for a couple days I think, though I remember eating earlier than recommended and having no trouble.

I had all 4 of mine removed at once, and I thought it was just a minor inconvenience really. I was completely knocked out for it, and everything went perfectly smoothly. I didn't have any recollection of anything until I was back in my bed at home. The most annoying thing was having gauze everywhere in my mouth for about two days.

I had one removed, but it was an unusual experience. The dentist botched pulling it out and it splintered into many pieces, and he had to remove them one at a time, which took forever. It was painful even with my mouth numbed twice.

Had all four removed. Waking up from the anesthesia was a bit disorienting, but was fine by the time I was driven home. Nothing was painful. Only mild discomfort. Was able to eat anything within a few days.

I've had my bottom 2 removed and it was absolutely fine.

Local anaesthetic so no nausea or anything, a slight ache for a few days but nothing too serious. My girlfriend also had hers removed and hers took a little longer than mine did for the wound to heal maybe a week or two but still nothing too bad other than inconvenience and a little soreness. There was a minor complication with mine where the bone on the inside of my jaw was broken during the operation but again this isn't all that rare and it didn't cause me any excess pain or major discomfort and no long term complications.

Maybe it's different with the top ones or maybe the dentistry in UK is better. I mean they have way more practise than everywhere else so it's not that unlikely, but I didn't have any major issues I wouldn't be too worried.

I have 3 and only had one removed. The others are overdue

it was seriously one of the worst experiences ever

The nerve pain is excruciating.

I hear people recovered in a few weeks but It took me about a month and a half to completely heal

you have to be careful not to get dry socket, and theres various things you have to do or not do to take care of yourself

The pain meds helped but once they ran out, it sucked ass

I don't want to try to scare but everybody made pretty light of getting them pulled when I asked here and I was mentally unprepared on how horrible it would actually be

Had one removed.

It was completely painless when they removed it. They were able to just pull it out after numbing the area.

Prior to removal(And the reason it was removed) it was absolutely the worst pain I have ever experienced in my life.

When they took the top ones out I only took the pain meds they prescribed the first day and it was only because I was told how horrible the pain was supposed to be. The tooth was cracked before I went in so having it removed was more of a relief than anything. I avoided chewing with that area of my mouth as much as possible for a while and it took some time for it to not feel strange back there.

A few years later I had to have one of the bottom ones removed and it was a totally different experience. Harder to keep saliva and food from reaching the area as it heals. The pain would come and go and lasted longer.

I was prescribed Tylenol 3 which surprised and disappointed most people who asked.

Seems like one of those things that's entirely dependent on the dentist and drugs involved. My top right one was pretty much lodged the fuck in there and they were wrenching at it like they were trying to remove a tire. But I felt nothing. Whatever local anesthetic they were using was apparently very good

I have all four removed at once and was pretty messed up for like 2 days afterwards. I barely remember that time period. apparently one of them was lodged partially into my cheek and they had to remove more tissue than expected, so I was also losing a lot of blood after the operation and had to go back to the doctor or emergency room.

after like day 3, when I started to actually be aware and remember things again, I was in severe pain for a while afterwards. the pain was mostly in the area with the excised tissue but all of them did hurt to some extent. being on painkillers pretty much constantly helped a bit with that.

Alright so the experience clearly varies, but hopefully this will be closer to "too doped up to feel much pain" because I don't believe they're putting me under the gas for this. Getting two bottom left teeth removed. I imagine I should tell my job now I won't be available for a few days(I probably won't be in a talking mood afterwards).

I've had surgery in the past so I know all about the sweet angel that are pain meds.

I had them checked when the teeth started to come out, and the dentist told me they were couldn't grow properly because of the positioning, so I had 2 removed quickly with local anaesthetic. Felt nothing during the removal, but they had to cut open the gum so it ached liked hell for a week and it's impossible to eat anything hard.

Few years on I removed another one, this time it was just pulled out, most of the pain went away in a day or two.

Pretty neat. A little uncomfortable to feel pressure without pain I guess? But also cool.

if you are already in pain, it can get really fucking intense during the procedure. Mine came in with a cavity that was hurting too and they had to go through the hole and give a shot and it was fucking hell

that said I have had all 4 out (I think) and the most pain during the the thing itself besides the shot is just the pressure, but as soon as its out there is a lot of reliefe so its worth it.

I was not put under but I cannot remember anything from the procedure or even the trip there. to be fair I have a LOT of dental anxiety and I told my dentist this ahead of time. he gave me some really strong stuff and told me to take it at least an hour before even coming. so... yeah. I don't remember shit from that entire day, really.

I had the top left one removed. I guess your experience may vary but it was a trivial experience. I was awake during the operation, it only took like maybe 5-10 minutes not counting the time spent just waiting, and there was virtually no pain after the procedure either. I was given pain pills but I didn't need them

I had two take out the same day, and my cousin who was a new dentist at the time used me for practice...

That said it only hurt during the process of taking it out, and like an hour or two after coming off the pain killer, then it just felt weird for a while till I became accustomed to it.

Yes, but *WARNING* There is a very very, very, small possibility of having permanent nerve damage depending on how deep the tooth is rooted and what happens during extraction. I'm talking one in a million type s***. Apparently, they aren't all "clean pulls".

I should know, it happened to me. One in a f***ng million.

Now parts of my lower lip and chin area are completely numb to touch and sensitive to certain foods. This was 6 years ago.

Are they removing the bottom or top or both?

Antibiotic is just for your absess.

If the top ones, they just push them out in the dentist office. No big deal. I drank and ate the same day. Just had to wait for the bleeding to stop.

Now I hear the bottoms need for you to be put under and can cause a lot of pain. So that may be different.

Had all four pulled. Some were lodged in so deep they had to chip parts of my jaw to get them out, then had to go in for a second surgery. Then I got dry sockets. It was absolutely terrible. Depends on your anatomy really.

I'm completely fine now, but took about 6 months to get feeling in my lower left jaw back. Hope for the best but prepare for the worst.

Had all four removed at once. Anesthesia knocked me out, and I was still a bit groggy walking back to mom's car. Got swollen in the recovery, but wasn't so bad given I remained calm and quiet, except when using your mouth for things other than eating\drinking (along with speaking, once my father cracked a joke at the table, when I laughed felt everything being pulled, quite uncomfortable). Only problem later was that after the stitches were removed, one of the holes where once was a tooth got a bit painful as food entered and "fermented". My sister suffered much more on the occasions she removed said teeth, one at a time.
