Yeah younger people work during the day sometimes. I pokemonwenttothepolls earlier and it was all old people. Dropped a lure to attract a few young bucks but no one came.

I literally just said it to ruffle feathers but it seems people have moved on from that, so that's actually a really good sign

I voted early on Sunday on a university campus and there were plenty of students voting there in the 15 minutes I was there; at least 20.

I should add that they all looked to be 25 at the most.

The younger generation is too extremist at the moment and that goes for both sides. Having grandmas or grandpas voting is the only reason America hasn't collapsed.

Everyone under 35 is working one of two or three jobs since all the grandparents destroyed the economy so terribly that no one can live off of a single wage any more. Hopefully those hard-working Americans can find time between shifts to make their voices heard.

This is actually important. The numbers have shown this year that the youth vote is turning out in early voting

Retirees can vote any time they like, so they typically vote early.
The 40+ crowd is usually higher up the corporate ladder and, thus, can more easily take time off to go vote during the day.

A lot of the 35-and-under crowd are working during the day, so they're going to be waiting until after work hours to vote.

I was actually off todayu so I voted...saw maybe 1-2 under 35 aged people but again its school time and work time for many.

It sucks but voting is kind of a crapchute. Even if your vote really did matter or effect the outcome, you could be voting against your own interests without even knowing it. Politicians say one thing and do the opposite routinely. Do you think most of the folks that voted for trump knew that he would deport half as many immigrants as Obama and would be talking about lifting the federal ban on marijuana? As much as the Republicans speak out against illegal immigration and the dems speak out against deportations, Democrats seems to deport twice as many when they're in office

Aren't there laws in place so people have time to vote today? From experience though, most people that complain about not having time, make very little effort to make time considering early voting takes minutes to sign up.

I just voted and was treated to some guy yelling at people that were goin in. The fire dept guys that worked where the polling station was at were making him leave when I left. One of the things I heard him yell was a vote for republicans was a vote for racism.

Same TC, I was the only one. I asked my group of 18 or 19 y/o friends and only 1 actually registered and voted, these same people also staunchly express their political stance too.

Apparently in my area, early voting showed a 2496 percent increase in the under 29 age group over the 2014 midterms.

I think it might have something to do with legalizing the marijuanas.

Early voting had huge gains across the country this year, especially for the youth vote! Regardless of political affiliation, people are cluing in more into the electoral process and I love that. We need to keep the momentum going.

Yeah, I'd love to be under a system where each vote around the country actually counts for nationwide elections. We're allowed to change our political structure over time, y'all. The US wasn't perfectly designed back in the 1700s.

Might want to turn your eye to the senate, then - it's rigged even worse than the electoral college.

Really, though, it always astounds me that for a nation that prides itself on being a standard bearer for democracy, the US has one of the most flagrantly undemocratic electoral systems I've seen amongst functional democracies. It's not like this is a new thing (see also: the three-fifths rule), but it seems to be getting worse these days given the increasing concentration of Americans in big cities. I read some analysis the other day that if demographic patterns continue for the next decade, by 2030 70% of the US population will be represented by just 30% of the senate.

Or, to put it another way, in just over ten-ish years, 15% of the population could elect a filibuster-proof supermajority to the US senate, with next to no recourse for the remaining 85% of the population.
