I don't have an opinion on if it's real or fake (I'd probably prefer fake, since I don't care about any of those newcomers). I just don't think literally anything red is saying means literally anything one way or the other.

Nope. Compare them in literally any image editor. The angles don't match, nor does the amount that each mouth is open.

Again, I doubt it's true, but they didn't just "Photoshop" those two images together even remotely.

I have a problem with "Monster Hunter" being a possible character, even a cut one. Like are they saying it would be the same character as in Marvel vs. Capcom? That really doesn't seem like something Sakurai would do.

Monster Hunter (the series) in Smash Bros was featured pretty heavily in that one Direct, to the point where it was a little surprising when he/she wasn't announced at the same time. Would not at all be surprised if they were DLC. Especially considering how well MH World did.

They wouldn't make it the same as the MVC3 character, if only because that character's outfit would not fly in Smash Bros.

I mean, I wouldn't be surprised if there was a MH character, but just referring to it as "Monster Hunter" just feels like a lazy rip from MvC. I feel like a Smash MH character would be something different, for example a Prowler.

He's directly referenced Marvel Vs Capcom before, when he said outright in a video that he took Mega Man's uppercut from that game

And it could still be a "Monster Hunter" without necessarily being the same one from that game. It could be male rather than female, could use a different set of weapons, or whatever

That's about customizing yourself and a backdoor to let in costumes of requested characters who didn't make it. I meant more like the Koopa Troopas you in Mario Kart and stuff. If there're no real iconic characters from MH, just enemies, that's what I mean.

sure, but again, monster hunter is huge and there is a gigantic number of ways you could make the fighting style different from mvc.

it has enormous potential as a fighting game character and you could do it a huge number of different ways.

The company the guy currently works for has printed stuff for games before, and the pictures match examples of other schematics/etc. the company has in a video on their website, so it's not completely dead yet. Discrepancies with the background of the "empty" one make me think it's definitely fake, though.

I wouldn't say I'm personally invested in whether it's real or fake, but I agree that the situation is pretty hilarious. and if I had to say I prefer if it were fake just because it would be funnier with all of the people insisting it is real.

If you are talking about Papa Geno staying that he has a "source" from Microsoft that said it was real...

1. Why would someone from Microsoft know about all these other characters?
2. I like his videos, but let's face it, he's willing to give a LOT more credit than is actually due to anything that says Geno is in.

Okay, let's break this down. If this leak is fake, that means that the leaker:

-Either makes sure that their fake roster aligns perfectly with an obscure 4chan post, or makes one a month in advance just to add credibility.
-Made seven entirely new renders of characters, then slotted them in accordingly.
-Included pointless levels of detail like Isaac's Djinn and the conductor.
-Made an entirely new half of the poster.
-Instead of just taking a picture, screenshots a snapchat video to act like their friend backstabbed them.
-Remembers to include a half-hidden ID so people can track him down and find out that he works in marketing.
-Also includes a never before seen render of the Grinch.
-All this to add credibility to the leak by pointing to his place of work, which just happens to make marketing materials for video games.

This is ridiculously elaborate. Could it be fake? Yes. But this is one of the most convincing leaks I've ever seen.

Also he doesn't work at the company that denied it any more, and that company is not doing the marketing for The Grinch. He works for a new company in the same field.

They wouldn't be entirely new, some of them would be edited from previous fan art or official art.
