Also, what if 50 senators leave the building leaving a 50-0 majority on the floor plus a tiebreaker vote but no quorum (the Constitution says the quorum is a majority of the senators). Obviously, none of the 50 senators remaining will initiate a quorum call but for any of the other 50 to come back to ask for one would create a quorum.

Can they do that if there's a 50-49 majority against on the Senate Floor? Like if the Dems invoked the nuclear option on counting the votes right away.... I mean Trump could just renominate him and they could just vote again when he gets back I guess but there would be another round of foot dragging by Dems of course.

I believe McConnell can keep the vote open however long he wants

I think the distinction of he was aiming for her phone is mostly irrelevant, because unless she held perfectly still and he was a skilled martial artist, her hand was getting kicked regardless, and thats battery.

Why is it dumb for people whose livelihood depends entirely on the wellfare, good word, and charitability of people's time and money to recognize and appreciate when they go out of their way to praise them specifically dumb?

There's very few things these celebrities can do a lot of times to thank people, but Twitter allows them to.

Granted it's odd when Trump does it because he doesn't gain anything from it, but to say when celebrities do this it's dumb is quite an awful take.

Because an RT is specifically designed to relay that message to other people.

Showing recognition is what the "like" function is for. Or you could reply, which wouldn't show up in other people's feeds. An RT is like saying "look at my fans" to people. I had to unfollow Jim Ross because of it, for example.

Yeah, but a retweet means more and gets more recognition and allows for fans to find each other more. Yes, it's also an advertising thing, but it's also a fine way of showing appreciation and means more than a like or retweet in the "gotta get impressions and follows" culture that Twitter is.

Although I will say the people who spam retweet people like Jim Ross or, in my case of unfollowing someone, Mauro Ranallo are way too much.

I will never trash anyone for showing recognition to fans though.

uh yeah, i'm sure it's because i'm an old man who doesn't get how twitter works, but i thought a RT was basically a way of saying "this." so if someone tweets "LASA IS AWESOME" and i retweet it, that means i agree with the person that i'm awesome. if i want to thank the person, wouldn't i reply to the tweet with a "thanks a lot" message?

Yeah, it can be.

There are definitely more nefarious ways of using retweets. Like...if someone retweets a person that they know their fans disagree with, it would be like...imagine if someone says "Board 8 sucks" on another board, and then someone links to that post from Board 8. (Except unlike GameFAQs you get notifications whenever someone replies to you).

For what it's worth, Trump doesn't do that as far as I know; he mostly retweets stuff that praises Trump (or the occasional white nationalist, which his fans also like).

From what I understand, he was talking about being a feminist rights activist. He kicks a pro-life woman in the shoulder. Rips off her ribbon. Has been fired from his job since the incident went viral and is having charges pressed against him.
