How do you guys do it? Some of you seem to manage infinite time to play all kinds of video games, watch a lot of anime and movies, and still hold a full-time job.

I wanna know how it's done. What do you expend?

You just don't have a social life/SO/kids.

You'd be amazed how much time that frees up.

Also if you learn to multi-task you can get a lot done.

For example, I watch anime during my lunch break, play a handheld game while I'm at the gym (stationary bike), listen to music while I'm browsing the net, etc.

sure but it doesn't have to be 100% of the time. my fiancee and I are both big nerds but we actually rarely play games/watch shows together since we have different tastes and neither of us is interested in forcing the other to play/watch something they don't like.

anyway to respond to the OP...

- be selective and don't be afraid to drop stuff
- multi-task (watch shows/movies while playing mindless games if you can pay enough attention)
- get chores/exercise out of the way and then be lazy the rest of the day after

Vlado and Zen... I think you're both saying the same thing >_>

And I don't have a girlfriend/wife, kids, pet, or anyone else to be responsible for at this time. It's both a time and energy thing. I am wearing myself thin with all the excessive walking I am doing. It also helps me fall asleep more quickly, so I guess that's good...

I have played lower-key games while watching football before. Would never do that during Survivor - the only other thing I watch live.

assuming there's no special trip going on, i think the key to happiness is to maintain one day on the weekend to myself

that's 18 hours of 'do whatever the hell i want' all at once, which is basically infinity.

some good relationships can soak up all of your time, but once i started keeping a solid day to myself i became so much happier

so, on average, i'd estimate that i have about 25 hours of completely unstructured time a week

Writing down tasks. I accomplish a lot more when I write it down. I usually spend 20 mins or so on sunday mornings writing down a few tasks for each day (usually is work, gym, errands, and 1 of the side things I do like learn a new speaking language or python stuff)

I also only spend little to no time on social media, which is the fucking plague

I only have Twitter on my phone and only use it for a few things. I have unfollowed people and clicked "I don't like this tweet" too many times to count to avoid the political toxicity. Lately, I'm just not reading my timeline when any vitriol-causing event occurs.

I no longer have an Instagram and I barely use Facebook. It helps a ton.

Also, does "python stuff" refer to a pet snake or watching Monty Python? Or something else?

I am setting goals for myself but maybe I really do need a chore list again... I have an idea for when I move out. A whiteboard.

I don't have terrible time management skills. I'm just trying to figure out how to prioritize so I both feel productive and can have fun. I feel I've balanced things decently for the time being, but in the process it seems I'm lagging behind on the things I want to watch and play. It's a weird crossroad to be at.

Feasible. That said, almost all my walking right now is done outside, allowing me to people watch and take in whatever's going on. It's quite fascinating, honestly - especially given how I do it sans earbuds. And believe me, I walk A LOT. Yesterday... 20,100 steps. Aka 10 miles. Which is an absolutely ridiculous total amount for someone working a desk job.

I could find a way to get an indoor bike to do while I watch one episode of some anime. Craigslist sounds like the right place to look for that... but it'll have to wait until I move out. Could definitely make it work provided I have the money and it'll give me even more exercise as I turn myself into a badass.

I'm just giving you shit back. I can understand your side. And The Bachelor is generally awful.

Well, I walk at lunch practically every day at work for about 30 minutes. I usually snack during brief breaks at work instead of eating a full midday meal; I'll often do the free yoga class here on Tuesdays for an hour in lieu of lunch (did not today for four reasons). That's 3 hours. I'll also walk at least a half hour, often more, after work barring any crazy weather... so that's at minimum six hours a week. It's probably 7-8 total. And yes, I am losing weight rapidly.

When I move out, I plan to get an exercise ball and a foam roller. I might develop a once-weekly routine with those and the resistance band I already own...
