I feel like HeroAca is one of the better series to take live action. It's pretty heavily based on western super heroes and we have a ton of those movies already. Still will probably end up as an abomination like the others but oh well. Just pretend it doesn't exist like all the rest.

The more I think about why so many people hate Mineta, the more I think he just came around at an unfortunate time period. In this day and age when people are standing up to sexual harassment, Mineta is pretty much seen as the worst type of person.

Any other time he probably would have been seen as the guy you love to hate. But people actively hate the guy, want him out of the series, and say he's not qualified to be a hero (even though on paper he's performed better than several of his more prominent classmates).

Mineta is great. Boy has a healthy sex drive and isn't hiding it. Sure, he's a bit grabby here and there, but some people try to paint him as a monster, which is ridiculous.

Started on Hakumei to Mikochi. Seems like it'll be a fun enough watch, though dunno how fast I'll get through it.

My biggest problem with mineta is that he's just gross. He's like a disgusting baby with grapes for hair. He's also a little bitch in combat almost constantly, his power is borderline worthless, and his only gag gets old by like the 3rd time he does it. His existence lowers immersion in the shows world by being absurd. I can't think of anyone else like that in the past that I've loved to hate.

I think he's funny. His power has ended up being more useful than Tape-Boy or Sugar-Man, at least.

Only because he got slightly more screentime than them.

Sero's power set is insanely useful and versatile, and Sugar-dude could potentially end up as a sort of All Might-lite with enough training. Both of them are definitely at a higher tier than Mineta purely in terms of powers. It's really a shame that they don't get the chance to showcase their talents more.

In jrpg news, I just finished 7th Dragon III Code: VFD, both the main game and the post-game dungeon.

It's an... alright game. Not insanely great, but not offensively bad either. The character class system is interesting, the turn based battle system is alright, and there was a genuine OH SHIT WHAT THE FUCK!? moment during the story that I genuinely didn't see coming. It's a solid 7/10 game.

Now I'm moving on to a game with a slightly higher caliber, Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey Redux.

He does have some potential that hasn't been seen yet. He could fashion makeshift weapons, or use the balls to scale a wall. Or maybe stick them to a rope or something and use as a long range grappler or to disarm someone.

Yeah, plenty of the main heros have pretty garbage powers. I'd enjoy it if they took the world more seriously.

Watched the new eps of goblin slayer and SAO. Both were pretty good although everyones complete lack of obvious knowledge in goblin slayer gets continuously more and more annoying. What did the elf, dwarf, and lizardman expect to accomplish if they don't know how to fight an ogre? I know that an ogre has high magic and regeneration and I don't even live in their world. Elf archer has lived for 2k years and is a ranger, how is there any monster she isn't an expert on? If they had all that backup that came after the fact, why didn't they take all of them into the damn dungeon? Why a lot of things?

Whatever, action was cool, seeing them fight something more powerful was cool, fight logic was poor (ogre blocked dozens of stones and the archers arrows with his hand without moving it for like 5 seconds, they didn't even try to interrupt the first cast, ogre didn't try to interrupt dwarf or lizardman casts, priest used one more spell than she was supposed to have (maybe she leveled up or something), dwarf didn't cast silence on the ogre, etc). I STILL have no idea where this series is going and it's been 4 episodes.

SAO on the other hand had much better fights even if it bugged me that kirito's arm inexplicably healed mid fight (the blood it was drenched in disappeared too, no explanation). Maybe that was just an animator goof or something. The fight logic there is also somewhat curious though. Why aren't they just spamming sword skills? I could see some possible justifications but I'd like it if they actually bothered to give some. It's like your in a boss fight in an MMO and your main dps is just autoattacking and not using skills. Maybe theres a dangerous backswing opening you leave? Maybe they have very low mp and he had to wait for it regen? Maybe you can only activate them after landing enough hits/taking enough damage? Why didn't kirito keep all the goblin weapons? They could have at least sold them for some cash.

The elf kinda explains it at the end, her adventures are "fun" not at all like what they just did. Only goblin slayer had not heard of ogres, the rest did, and the demon army as well (they tried to tell him about it earlier).

Also, that was not like any ogre in any fantasy realm I have played in read about, it had massive healing (probably better then a troll), and could cast at least level 6? spells for large fireballs like that, while having a ton of hp, huge strength etc.

It's like planning to fight some small goblins (level 2-3 or so) and running into a dragon meant for level 18 players instead. The entire team had no chance against it without that scroll.

The new members were all blown away by the cruelty of the goblins, they are kinda making it like the goblins are almost an unknown greater evil to the land, and only Goblin Slayer knows it, everyone else thinks they are just weak low level monsters and don't realize the damage and cruelty they are causing.

Over all I liked this episode, it had alot of combat but was pretty good as far as characters being developed. They didn't have nudity for no reason (like episode 2) and it went well with episode 3 (which was almost like a camp episode where the party members get to know each other etc). Not sure where it is going to go from here though, will the party members stay together, or will they split up again.

Looking forward to next week more then I have since episode 1 (still probably my favorite). I was very let down by episode 2, and episode 3 was good....IF it had other good episodes to go around it, and was going to use the character development later.

If the team stays together, I will elevate episode 3 higher, since it was for a purpose. It worked very well with episode 4 no matter what, so it was worth it, but if they keep the new characters involved, it is a great episode.

Found some heavily truncated version of the Parasyte anime on YT. I've watched most of the "episodes" of this version -- albeit out of order -- and now I want to see the full thing even more. While the style looks a bit different from the manga, it still looks great and, given that I've been like a decade or so since I read the manga, I had apparently forgotten some of the plot points and/contexts for plot points.

BUT WHY? They all live in that planet, some for thousands of years. How much money in taxes must the lords be losing due to dead villagers that were killed by goblins? How is the guild in business when there is no assurance anyone will do your quest but you still have to pay just to post it? The party was expecting to go up against demon lord generals, you'd think they would be able to handle something like this. Only goblin slayer expected to only fight goblins and inexplicably only he was prepared to fight something stronger than goblins.

I find it hard to believe that any adventures in this world are like the one high elf archer was going on about. It only feels that way to us in games cause there is no stakes. These people go against monsters that can one hit kill you or worse as a job. The lack of preparation both physical and mental by everyone thats not GS makes me wonder how any of the other adventurers are even alive.

Realistically there would be town militias hunting down goblins and other minor threats and some sort of lords army hunting down major threats or else you'd quickly end up in economic collapse and probably suffer a food shortage as well (since food is grown in towns/villages and imported to cities). A guild might pop up to offer more immediate response to mid tier threats but you can bet there would be training and minimum standards as well as most likely some sort of mentorship set up where they wouldn't just let parties of all amateurs go out unprepared.

Theres even inconsistencies. Many raped women go to the church to live out their days. Many beginning adventurers like the priest come from churches. How did they never meet any of those traumatized women? Why would the church not warn them of the dangers they may face? Why wouldn't the magic academy have a course on monsters? Why would someone that wants to be some heroic warrior not read the accounts of actual heroic warriors? It's like everyone but goblin slayer is a 5 year child playing make believe in the back yard.

I get what your saying, but.......it seems like goblins are not taken seriously and adventurers that die to them etc, are almost laughed at (which is pretty horrid).

Only the counter girl really seems to care/know that the newbie adventurers are going to get wiped out, the other adventurers with more experience seem not to care at all. Heck even Goblin Slayer doesn't care (he lets another group of newbies go off on their own in episode 2 I think it was).

Meanwhile I guess in most cases the groups that go out are more powerful then what they face....or at least that is the impression I get. The party that went with Goblin Slayer was not planning on meeting a General, especially not by themselves.

I don't know if you watched Grimgar and Ash but it's similar in alot of ways, the goblins basically would kill off newbies, and were almost considered a testing ground for new adventurers.

In Goblin Slayer it seems like that is what they are considered as well, but perhaps that leeway (letting them breed and exist for new adventurers to try their metal on) may be opening a way for something more sinister.

That being said, it's interesting (very) that the big bad of this last episode was not a goblin AND that it considered goblins beneath it's notice/worthless. I had thought that everything was leading up to the goblins themselves being a major threat, having a goblin king who was very powerful etc.

Perhaps that will not be the case.

Oh yeah, I can definitely say that the soundtrack is one of the game's biggest strengths.

Which is a bit rare for a relatively average length jrpg. (I clocked in at around 35 hours for full completion)

Usually most games of this length have one main battle theme and one or two boss themes. But I was surprised when I found that each major area had it's own random battle theme, roaming dragon theme, AND each major boss had their own wonderfully orchestrated theme.

I LOVE this song the most, not just because it sounds awesome, but the circumstances that led up to fighting this boss was really really impactful. (spoilers in the comments!)

So. No longer content with censoring questionable content in animu games for western releases, Sony is now forcing developers to censor games even within their own country. Even for Japan-onle games, devs are being forced to cut or otherwise censor their games for PS4. Even games that were previously released uncut are getting censored for the PS4 version.

Literally everything I hear about Sony just pisses me off more and more these days. The one good thing about any of this is that I now know where I stand with them. It's a sad state of affairs when you have to go to Nintendo for uncut content.

Well sony is revolting. Hopefully they go out of business. Really hoping this is the last console generation and it all just switches to PC/mobile after (even though I don't like mobile games either).

Sony is going to get hit hard if they don't change that soon. I really hope this is the same Pendulum Effect that we had at Steam, and they're going to swing back at full force once they see that what they're doing is not working.

I started watching Gamers. Halfway through and I do like it, but it became something completely different from what I was expecting from the first few episodes.

It's usually annoying when there's all this contrived relationship drama that could easily be resolved with proper communication, but at least here it's all played for laughs.

Steam has started to add U.S. sales tax to its purchases. Minor gripe, but still annoying. At least there is a sale going. Picked up the first War of the Human Tanks, among other titles. Still wishing that Aldorlea Games had more of its titles on the Steam Store, rather than exclusive to its web site.

Also wondering if the Crunchyroll / Funimation divorce means that Funimation will start putting more of its titles back on Hulu. Will have to investigate.

I have no doubt that Undertale is interesting (and I have the original game), but the fandom is so awful that I have been reluctant to invest a great deal of time and effort into it.

Also: If one is looking at Earthbound-a-likes, Lisa exists, and that game is fantastic (... IMO; it is absolutely not to all tastes).

Weird ain't the word; I'm ready to take up metaphorical arms.

But I'm not letting it get to me right now, because I'm working another convention. This is a local one aimed mainly at kids, but there's plenty of stuff for everyone and we got some decent celebrities. I'm mainly on production crew; setup and teardown; we set up equipment, sound, and props like the giant Hulkbuster.

That sort of work kind of suits me just fine because I like being involved, but not necessarily "center stage" due to shyness or awkwardness). Actually, right now I'm literally pulling the strings behind the scenes; there's a Jedi training area where I pull a string attached to the things the children move with the Force.

Just watched this weeks goblin slayer and IMO it's just what the series needed actually. The episode was all down time but it expanded on the world and characters that were only briefly introduced earlier. Seeing how things exist outside of goblin slayer's all goblins all the time life makes it all feel a bit better. Of course, my previous world building concerns have only amplified but I find I don't mind as much now. I liken this to one punch man where they start expanding on the other heroes and the system and stuff.

The fact that the guild is actually hurting for new adventurers AND that there is a promotion exam make it completely ridiculous that there is no entrance exam or provisional period for new adventurers but thats clearly something I'll just be forced to overlook cause they've dug themselves too deep on that plot hole.

SAO episode is out as well and I'll watch that next. I wish slime came out on saturdays too so I could watch it all in one go. Just one or two eps at a time feels like way too little anime. It's always over in a flash.

Edit: Watched the SAO episode. I almost forgot there was a story going on outside the game world. I guess it's necessary. Definitely somewhat interested but I mostly just want to get back into the game.
