Giants were winning 1-0 the entire game, then I look away during the 9th inning for a few minutes and come back to them losing 1-3. This is like the years where they would find ways to scrape out wins, except his year they find ways to play just shitty enough to lose.

This story about Jerod Mayo's dead dog is bizarre. They entrusted him to a pet caretaking company and he went missing while he was with them. It turned out he's been dead the whole time and the caretaker who was watching him had stuffed him inside a trash bag and put it in her closet. Come on lady! The least you could have done was throw the bag away!

I'm assuming the dog died from negligence from the caretaker... otherwise they wouldn't lie about it and hide the body.

In that case, hiding the body in a bag in the closet is definitely dumb

Remember Richie Incognito? He told a reporter that the Vikings had reached out to him and were interested in signing him. At his press conference today, Mike Zimmer, on reports that the Vikings might have interest in Richie Incognito: "No interest, and totally false. Tweet that."

And then incognito tweeted this lol

And to make it even better, Incognito posted screenshots of texts with former OL coach and incognito's former coach Tony Sparano (who is now dead). It was just them having a conversation/Sparano humoring him, not actual interest on signing him from the vikings FO

How do I always forget about this? The minute I'm reminded of that insane story is always the same minute that it leaves my brain forever. And yet the image of Peyton kissing Papa John before his wife after winning the super bowl is seared into my brain forever

I thought Chad Bettis making it almost 5 innings while also giving up 9 runs tonight was impressive, but Felix put up 11 runs in 6 (though only 7 earned).

Did anyone see the new Smash announcements? The Castlevania stuff looks awesome. Simon and Richter (clones) will be playable and there is a stage. Also Dark Samus and Chrom who I don't really care about, and K. Rool which is cool I guess but I suck at heavy fighters.

I like all the stage announcements as well. You'll be able to turn off hazards or do a "Battlefield" version of each stage. That's nice; I'm not a super purist about my Smash, but some stages are definitely way too busy, even for a filthy casual like me

I watched it. It was way better than their E3 thing for Smash. The Castlevania reveal was extremely sick. I love the Richter design too. Only thing is I wish Chrom was an Ike clone but he can't wield the same little baby sword as his daughter like it's a bastard sword so they went with a Roy clone, which is also funny because it means Chrom is a clone of a clone.

Yeah, the game looks fantastic. Richter is the much cooler Belmont and his inclusion also gives me hope that we can get some cool 3rd party "echo fighters," namely Ken as a Ryu clone and maybe Proto Man or something too. Ms. Pac-Man would be kinda funny.

Obviously Chrom isn't the most exciting thing, but I like him and he's a Roy clone so he at least gives me a reason to play as him over Marth which Lucina never did. They made Roy into a really interesting fighter as DLC in the last one, though I didn't play as him enough to get good.

And the stuff about turning off hazards is definitely a huge plus, as well as giving a battlefield form for every stage in addition to Final Destination. There are some stages (notably Dr. Wily's Castle) which would have been totally fine in their normal form except for something terrible like the yellow devil ruining it. That said the Dracula boss fight is so cool looking it'll hurt to have to turn it off, but those things are just a pain. I like to be able to fight in places that are different without being too crazy. Like the New Donk City stage looks really good in that way.

The Castlevania trailer was great, and Luigi was killed by the grim reaper in it.

Oh man I just saw someone say Big Boss should be in as a Snake clone and now it's all I want.

I'm looking forward to showing my kids the direct. They really like the Smash Brothers game and were already excited for this game. Recently, they have gotten into Castlevania games playing on the NES and SNES classic as well as playing SotN.

Idk what the smallest amount I would accept would be. Obviously it would be at least 100x lower than the proposed amount for that topic. At around $300 I'd start to feel like an ass for picking the game, which is silly sort of because I basically spent that much to play Smash 4 on Wii U as I needed to buy a Wii U to play it after mine broke which I had basically bought for Smash 4 anyway

The $100k is such a stupid thing to reject anyway because Smash Bros. games are essentially all cumulative experiences. You could just skip Ultimate and wait for the next one which will have like 90% of Ultimate's content plus new stuff. If the question was something like BotW, which is its own unique experience, it would be harder for me but I'd still take the money at this point.

If I got paid some amount of money to skip the game I would buy an N64 and start playing the original one and saying it was the only good one the whole time.

I thought it was really funny that the poll expressly states that you can play any old Smash and any future ones after Ultimate even if you take the money and still very few takers.

It's also far too much money. I'd pay off my loans and have plenty left over to like get my mom out of debt for god's sake and all I have to do is sit and watch when people bust out the new SSB which will then be replaced in 7 years or less

That's life changing money. For that question it should be $300-$500

I don't think it would that life-changing but maybe that's just me. I'd still need to get my career on track regardless so it would just be helpful for a little while. Same thing I think if you have a career but aren't already making a livable wage, then that would just be something to get you over the hump for a few years.

It's still dumb to turn that amount down but it's not like an amount you could retire on while still living a comfortable lifestyle, so I can sort of see the thought process.

with that I could pay off the rest of my student loans, buy a new car and pay for it in full, put a down payment on a house, and go on an awesome vacation. Seems pretty life changing to me

If you take a video game over $100,000, chances are you're far too privileged and sheltered to begin with.

Yeah I get why those would be nice, but all those things are either not feasible or necessary for me right now. Actually, I probably would take a vacation, just didn't think about that before. But I'm thinking of the mentality where I'd just put most of it into savings and that's not as exciting as having a good reason to drop a ton of it at once

I don't think DRS is the greatest stat for fielding (there still isn't a really great one but UZR is prob the best afaik) but they just showed the league leaders on the Cards broadcast and Matt Chapman has 28 and second best is 19

I wish I could get excited about anything as those Smash nerds are for the new game, but then again, maybe being so excited that you make horrible decisions is not a good thing.

But yeah, I'm not excited at all, partially because I don't have a Switch and probably never will, so if someone wants to send me a dollar to never play the game, I'd take it.

I'm gonna get a switch just for Metroid Prime 4 whenever that comes out. Dont really care about anything else that much

Things aren't looking so good after the Rockies have dropped three straight series, but they're only three games back in the division still. Now they have four games coming up against the Dodgers which will probably make or break their season. Or at least break it, but probably not make it because the rest of the year San Diego is their only opponent under .500.

I read that it was something like a stretch of 46 straight games against teams over .500. Shit, man

Edit: Oh I guess the Giants are under .500 as of now and the Angels could be again, but basically the Padres are the only really bad team on the docket

After the Giants blew consecutive games against the Astros, I've basically given up. I'll see how next week goes when they face the Dodgers before I make it sports topic official.

The Cardinals are kind of rolling right now. They haven't looked amazing but they're staying alive which I didn't anticipate. We'll see how they do once Carpenter stops homering every night but for now they've been fun to watch (especially with matheny gone) which has been nice.

It's gonna be great when the Cards miss the playoffs but get close enough that we know if Matheny had been fired in the off-season they would have been able to make it in.
