What are the recipes for Alfyn's concocts?

Game's great so far. Cleared everyone's first chapters and am trying to finish as many of the initial side quests as I can before proceeding.

Chose Ophilia as my protag and got the rest in the "correct" order.

What determines how much EXP you get? I killed the bird monster in the dungeon outside Bolderfall (Carrion Cave) by casting reflect on everyone and reflecting its own Incinerate but got only like 10 EXP more than the normal fights

Why hunt bosses if it is unrewarding?

BTW Tressa makes an excellent Thief thematically!

I finally found four job shrines so my main party all have sidejobs. Really enjoying this game so far. Haven't been a big fan of turn based RPGs really, but find this battle system rewarding to play, even though I do the same thing every time

Just did everyone's ch1, grabbed all of the subclasses, and I'm doing the majority of the side quests before I move onto Therion's ch2. I'm having a hard time keeping everyone the same level, mainly because Ophelia and Olberic are pretty boring and stay stashed for the most part.

Until you multiclass Ophelia is the only one who can do Light based Magic.

Heck, it appears that there's no good reason to start anyone's Chapter 2 until you get all the subclasses. There's nothing but net gain from subclassing as early as possible.

Pretty much, yeah. It immediately opens up additional moves for no JP investment... plus the first two 30 and 100JP moves are really inexpensive by that point in the game.

I'm taking the story really slowly and I'm loving it. It doesn't feel like a grind at all. Even the economy (with tons of item priced well beyond your earning rate) is balanced in a way that makes exploration, stealing and the Merchant class feel really rewarding.

I got all four secret jobs and holy shit I'm so OP it isn't even funny. Example, with the Runelord (before I even had the Warmaster), I killed him and got the Untouched bonus.

So I hear about "the Flame" and go through Ophilia's Chapter 1 and people mention Aelfric and the pantheon I'm like "Cool, it's nice to have stories with religions to figure out with all their mythology."

Then I go to a shrine and a god just straight up talks to me.

Also, maybe I fuzzed out when it happened, but was I actually given something that represents the job? I mean, I get how it works in-game mechanically (go to the menu, select a thing, only person get a thing at a time), but trying to translate that to an in-universe phenomenon has left me a little fuzzy on what it actually means. Is there an item that the folks pass between each other representing the job, or is it just a vague intangible state of being? And if the latter were the case, why is only one person at a time limited to learning the job?

Like in FFV, for example, the jobs were represented by crystal shards. Everyone could learn one job at once, and it was implied that the knowledge was imparted by the shards themselves.

I worry about silly things, I know.

This game is really, really fun.

I'm glad I played the demo and decided to ignore naysayers because I've said it before and I'll say it again. I'm really into RPGs with a lot of bulk in story and characters BUT this game makes me realize that turn based gameplay can be super fun and interesting...its slowly becoming one of my favorite rpgs.

How do you get the demo?

How do y'all find so many job shrines? I looked on the map and found a couple places I thought might be, but some ended up being caves and others the shrines. Are you stumbling on them, or looking it up online to find it?

Do you have to finish all the first chapters before you get shrines and stuff like that?

No. As far as I know you can get them whenever, though some require you to go deep in chapter 2 areas while some dont (except Primroses job in a chapter 3 area - see below)

Dancer has you wandering just a little bit into a level 30 area. Totally worth getting it though. Love the class on Ophilia.

I just hate how far away Merchant is.

Anyways, they are the Stonehenge looking icons on the map/minimap

I beat the game. No idea if I want to do the post-game dungeon or not. I'm slightly intrigued by the lore hints, like my interest is a 4 or 5/10. But it would require me to grind the characters I don't give a shit about using in combat, which would take a good few hours and I just...really don't feel motivated to do that crap at all.

such a fucking awesome game. played 8 hours in one sitting a few days ago. got around 24 hours played. doing Alfyn's chapter 2 then i have Tress/Cyrus/Ophelia chapter 2.

the game is a ton of fun! loving the art style and music and storylines.

question about the story tho - do the stories converge into a single narrative towards the end or does the party interact just through the occasional Travel Banter?

I just finished everyone's "Act 2" yesterday.

My main party is Alf (first guy I picked and is level 38 or 39), Cyrus (level 35), Huntress chick (level 33) and Therion (level 35ish)

Only real class I dual as of right now is Therion and he dualclasses a dancer, but I may change that to merchant for the give BP ability. It's more practical to lay waste with Cyrus and his nukes with his ultimate ability.

Soothing seed + essence of grape heals a lot of HP for everyone in the party

Soothing seed + curious bloom heals HP and prevents status ailments

Soothing seed + essence of plum heals SP for everyone in the party

Injurious seeds target all the enemies

(basically if it says "large volume" it'll target everyone in the party, if it says "small volume" it'll only target one person)

Same exact thing I did. Killed the snake charmer first, then the snake itself went batshit crazy. My other attempt I killed the snake first and it wasn't as bad at all.

I've got some bad news for you, although he does bring up a couple of actual points between his memeings and myopic misrepresentations.

Also, he doesn't touch on the story at all, other than to briefly summarize Olberic's prologue hook, and to show you that Ophilia refers to a person in her story as 'Your excellency.'

Mostly comedy but occasionally he gives some real thoughts on a game he was invested/interested though those are still meant to be humorous

His reviews for action games are generally pretty solid critiques, I often times don't think he has enough patience to gain similar levels of insight in other genres.

Dunkey is great but he hates turn based games. I don't agree with him here but if you also hate turn based games you'd probably feel the same as Dunkey and shouldn't play this game lol

Its cool that the final boss requires you to use two parties imo. Its doable if the other party is at least level 65.

I'm really enjoying each storyline tbqh. I thought I'd hate Tressa and Alfyn so I delayed on doing their chapter 2 but I enjoyed both of their stories a lot more than I thought I would.
