I have to do a few more fights, but is it just me, or do the Chapter 2 boss fights have music that leads into the actual battle music? Like you confront the villain, and they have their own theme, then the battle starts and that music continues uninterrupted, and then it transitions musically into the battle theme?

Because if so, that is one of my new favorite things.

Who is good with the Merchant Secondary?

Also, do I need to have a secondary job equipped to use the Support Skill from that Secondary?

Like, could I level Cyrus up in Scholar and Cleric, but level up Merchant to get that 1/2 SP Support Skill?

You do not need to have the job equipped so Cyrus can use Save SP. More importantly everyone can equip Saving Grace

No. Support Skills stay with the character forever.

As for your other question, I don't have anything conclusive, but I gave it to Therion. Both take stuff and it gives him four weapons and another magic.

Yeah you dont have to have a class equipped to use passives. Just skills. I think Merchant benefits more from having Theif more than the other way around though. Just for the passive that lets them double resources gained from Collect/Steal. Having both classes on 1 character means they spend more turns doing nothing

Because if so, that is one of my new favorite things.

I don't recall the villains having unique themes (just like a pool of 2 or 3 that they share), but yeah, the transition from build-up into full-on battle music is badass. I especially love the version where drum and electric guitar layers come in as the fight starts.

Edit: actually, you might be right about them having unique instrumentation (re-listening on youtube now).

I'm late to the party, finished off all chapter 1s and am now onto chapter 2 stuff. So much stuff to choose from that I will probably wander around aimlessly forever. I've managed to get one game over thus far, tried doing the ice giant study sidequest a bit too early and got wrecked, I think with some better armor to let me survive better I can probably handle it though, so once I've toured the chapter 2 towns and gotten equipment from them I'll go back and give it another shot.

there's not really a one-size fits all list unless you stick with 4 characters whose jobs you never change. proposed team set up also changes what you need to do.

Warmaster Olberic will want to have completely different passives from Runelord Olberic--and Runelord Olberic will have completely different passives from Runelord Tressa.

The Half-SP from Merchant is great for basically EVERYONE, but especially for Scholar.

Did you guys really not tell him Saving Grace

Saving Grace (final passive for Cleric) lets you heal past full HP, up to 9999. You can't get overhealed if your HP is already above max but basically on turn one you can charge a Heal More and double or triple your party HP if you've built up big elemental defense

I'm at my very last chapter 2, H'aanit, and I suddenly feel like I've made some kind of mistake. I've been steamrolling the game before this, but out of the blue, just like crazy, the game has become super hard. My A team is actually over the recommended level, but I'm having a very hard time with fights. There are these Wild Weasels that can literally wipe out my entire team in one shot. Something is very wrong here.

No I'm clearly in the H'annit chapter 2 dungeon, which is a forest or something. And I'm trying to keep up with equipment, I'm fairly up to date, there's a few more stuff I could purchase but don't have the money.

Enemies in that area hurt, yes. Make sure your armor is up to snuff. If Olberic is in your party he can boost his Defend command and take hits for other party members

Merchants can Sidestep physical hits

Yeah, it's practically required to go exploring and get all the regular jobs before progressing to the Chapter 2s. And, like a fool, I tried Tressa's Chapter 2 first (without any additional jobs)...YIKES.

I finally got one of the secret jobs yesterday. :)
Sooo awesome! Had to cheese it up with a certain ability, though >_>

I'm done 5 chapter 3s now, the boss fights are starting to get competent, Alfyn and Ophilia's bosses were no slouches. Also I was kind of amused that there was a boss that reminded me something from another game entirely, so I decided to try hitting it with fire because the thing in the other game is weak to fire, and it turned out that fire really was one of its weaknesses.

Got the game yesterday. Started with Primrose. So far I've acquired Tressa, Therion, Ophilia, and Olberic. Currently in H'aanit's chapter 1. Her dialogue is a little obnoxious >_>

I still love the game, but I'm lamenting how its open-ended structure leads to a lack of focus in the game. There's no galvanizing aspect to rally around, which is part of the charm, but also removes a driving factor in these games. I love to see bad guys either get redeemed, or get their comeuppance. I suppose I'll have to play through all the chapters to see which characters fall into which categories.

So with the subclasses should I stick one to each character or rotate them around to get different passive skill combinations for each character and to have a party that always compliments each other? I guess that depends on how much of that XP currency you get right?

Right now my Primrose has the Scholar subclass but I'm thinking I should wait to spend the powerful spells until later in the game? They're not really needed yet.

I'm also trying to get everyone around the same level. Works pretty well for everyone outside of Primrose and Therion who are overlevelled lol.

I don't think it I have it in me to (big spoilies) kill the final boss. It's cool how Graham connects everything and all that but ultimately I don't feel like I have enough of a personal connection to Galdera to enjoy stopping him. Beating him feels more like doing one last chore for the world than furthering yourself or something. It's not like Kefka. And fuck man, it's hard. I creamed the eight corrupted souls but to even damage Galdera after a little while you have to kill all the henchmen at the same time and like damn. I haven't even seen the second party, who I didn't have healed or specced currently because they were in my reserve, so like I just put my switch to sleep during the battle and still have it like that. I don't want to grind through the eight again, or do any more grinding really.

Also, (Haanit spoilers) i killed the red-eye before it ever tried to petrify me which was lame

I beat H'annit's ch. 3 boss - the first one that actually gave me difficulty. I game over'd once, but only because I decided to attack after the boss decided to wind-sweep 3 of my party members away.

Most of my main party is around level 62 now. I wonder if I'm good enough to tackle the last 2 shrine bosses. I've already beaten half of the chapter 4s.

It's like "whats the point?" now. Maybe not make these bosses so friggin hard so I can use these extra classes and keep one super boss for a challenge?

I'm so glad I picked Tressa as my main. Such a heart-warming story. Some of the other stories..and their conclusions have been....a little... odd or just plain...weird.

I still haven't even touched Ophelia or Alf's chapter 2. >_>
I'll be one hit killing those bosses probably.
