I'm still super early. Have Tressa, Oberic, Primrose, and Cyrus. Primose has the best story so far but she's awful in combat. Gonna switch her out next character I get.

I like Primrose. She gets better with subclasses if you dont like buffing teammates. Dark magic and daggers are nice to have access to. Bewildering Grace is a skill some people use to farm later on. Her Divine lets single target skills be either cast on the entire team or all enemies.

I have seen people spec her as Theif because the divine scales off speed and she is the fastest character in the game. Personally I like going Scholar though because of her high E Atk

I know how you feel. I just got an EXP x5 in a battle with 2 Curious Caits and it felt fucking great. I am only in Chapter 3 thought but that was still like 6 levels.

It's the most involved I've gotten with a non-Bethesda RPG since Dark Souls, and the most I've loved a JRPG since FFXII, which it seems to take quite a bit of inspiration from in it's open world design.

She's carrying my B-team though as a heavy nuker.

How do you get magic to hit 6 times, or is sorcerer the hidden job?

Yeah, it gets 3 hit spells of every element and Ophilia's Divine Skill makes skills used by an ally trigger twice.

Even my team of high 50s barely managed at times. Be prepared to be dealing at least 40k damage per break by the time the bosses health go red because if you dont kill them fast enough, they will annihilate your team. Or just get the four extra classes and breeze through it all.

Heard the extra class bosses were difficult. Should I tackle them anyways?

You can try. There are people who beat those bosses with parties in the level 30s. It may take more than one try but being prepared can turn a difficult fight into an easy one. Also, these bosses can be cheesed fairly easily if you want to go that route.

I tried one and it was DEFINITELY harder than any of the five (now six) chapter four bosses I've done. Everyone is level 45-46. I tried Shrine of the Warbringer and was doing okay until I got absolutely BTFO when (boss mechanics/attack spoilers) it "unlocked all weapons" and started attacking SIX TIMES A TURN lmao.

The Olive of Life (L) is programmed to heal 9999 HP so that it full recovers a fighter no matter what. But with this broken skill equipped, that means the character is resurrected with now having 9999 active HP.

His stage where he sleeps your whole team was ruining me.

I'm a bit underwhelmed by the actual class. I think having a transfer bitch is probably the best use of the runelord class.

Tressa can boost the whole party defense for 150 leaves, so that's not that valuable to me.

Rest/Sidestep would be good though. Right now I'm using Tressa as a 300 SP battery(I just pass the SP to my sorcerer at the start of big fights). But she could probably be a good Runelord.

Bewildering Grace has far far more negative consequences than good ones like dropping all items and erasing all BP or SP not to mention a full heal on the enemy or wiping your party HP to 1. By the time you score an EXPx5 to say nothing of a x100 which is laughably rare you could've gotten that EXP from normal grinding and gameplay. And when a character's main appeal is being a niche EXP farming tool I think that says a lot about them.

Night Ode is good for dark breaking I guess but dark is one of the rarest weaknesses, and a single-hit all-foes attack that breaks very few enemies is not really something to write home about.

Her ally buffs are super niche. The speed boost doesn't even work most of the time due to how arbitrarily turn lineup appears to be calculated and having a Hunter for Legtrap is outright superior. Defense buff on a single other person is laughably outclassed by Shackle Foe and Hired Help. Similarly physical attack buff is a worse Armor Corrosive, and Warrior, who has the strongest easily obtainable damage powers, the ThunderBlade divine skill + Surpassing Power, already has a self physical buff skill baked into the class. Leaving the only particularly unique Dancer power to be elemental attack buff which itself is a much less used stat than physical attack due to the focus on weapons for many classes that don't have elemental boosts and the fact that most classes have at most one elemental attack anyway.

I suppose Summon is good if you hunt down a seriously strong NPC and manage to Allure them but in general it's a pretty limited ability considering it gives you one NPC that attacks randomly with one or two powers that leaves a couple turns later and is limited supply within a battle. And I definitely don't think it makes up for the issues the rest of the class has.

You can give her a subjob but she will always be stuck with primary Dancer

Yeah it's super frustrating. You should get the banter as long as you recruited the character whether or not they're in your party.
