Just on Mario they tweaked some moves and adjusted frames on his attacks. Looks like they tweaked every character and really worked on balancing the game. With a roster of around 60 characters, that's very impressive.

Not my job. I do not work for [company responsible for making Smash] making money off people buying the game. I am the end-costumer. I am the one who gives them the money. They need to win me over, not the other way around. They are the ones who need to come out with fresh characters with 100% new moves. Actually, let me take that back. They do not need to do jackshit, because Gaming is one of the few industries in which a company can actively treat their costumer base like trash and their costumers will not only buy it, but defend it.

Yeah, what's the logic with DLC nowday, even when it has been announced and the game isn't even out, "They were working on the new [whatever bs it is] when the game was already finished!!!!"

This is specially true with Smash (assuming) since they had to spend ALL THAT TIME porting and tweaking existing content. And the graphics, shit. It's like a whole new game when compared to the Wii version.

They bring back all originally cut characters, add some extra ones, do an engine overhaul, add a bunch of other content, do countless tweaks to balance and update previous characters, and have it all on a portable system with decent graphic abilities, and you're upset by this because they didn't include more? Not to mention there is likely a single player campaign and other bonus modes that haven't been revealed yet...

in all seriousness, who else is there left to add to such a massive roster? K Rool? Geno? Tetris block? Goku? Sailor Moon? Shrek? What more do you expect?

"extras" being two new characters. What are the "bunch of other content'? Again, tweaks is expected of any sequel or port of a upcoming game, why do you keep acting like this is new and exciting?

Okay, so a roster of 45 characters and 15 more with minor tweaks. The fact of the matter is that Smash 4's roster was already huge (even without DLC), and it's getting even bigger. I'm okay with not adding many more characters, especially where I never bought 4's DLC and those characters are therefore new to me. Much more than that and you start getting into Mugen territory, which will inevitably be a horribly unbalanced mess because there's no way to balance that many characters.

While I would guess the engine is based off of Smash 4 (which is good), it's still heavily modified, which means things have to be tweaked for nearly 70 characters on an individual basis, and plenty got small move reworks. And while characters like Young Link and Pichu aren't "new", they still had to be designed from the ground up with new assets, considering they weren't in Smash 4 at all. So while only 2 "new" characters exist, saying it lazy is an insult to the huge amount of work that has gone into the game.

Personally, I could have done without Pichu and others, but it's admittedly exciting to see the game be an ultimate compilation of all things Smash.

I'm honestly okay with the roster as is. Sure, having an 80+ roster would be great, but realistically, things are gonna get sacrificed eventually to achieve that number and I'd rather have better modes and gameplay than more characters that I probably won't even use often. I don't know if the game is considered a new game or not but to me it looks like SSBU Definitive Edition which games of that nature have been appearing on the Switch frequently so I'm fine with it.

Seemed pretty lame overall, and I was actually kind of annoyed that they not only didn't fix mechanical/balance issues but outright bragged about it with Pichu ("he still damages himself", ie, "he still sucks!").

It's nice they finally made Shulk's monado arts less of a chore to select, at least.
And apparently...they're bringing back all of the old stages, except the only one I actually wanted back.

I didn't know people still watched Super Casual Bros. The last actually good competitive one they had was like a long time ago.

Even games heavily inspired by Smash Bros, such as Brawlhalla are played competitively.

On top of that, a lot of recent fighting games have made huge mistakes or have become more casual to appeal to a wider audience.
Just look at Marvel Vs Capcom, Tekken 7, DBZ Fighterz, etc.

Can we all at least agree that Smash Ultimate isn't making returning characters DLC like most fighting games?

Personally, if Sakurai decided to include a Mario character with an original sports-themed moveset, and went with Daisy over Waluigi, I'd be downright offended. A sports-themed moveset would fit Daisy pretty well, but acting as filler for spinoff games is Waluigi's raison d'etre. He was born for it. Molded to serve no purpose but to give Wario a doubles partner for tennis. Everything that has happened in Waluigi's life has led to his role in spinoff games, so choosing to represent those games in Smash and denying him the opportunity to be their face would be the worst travesty gaming has ever seen.

Just adding a clone to do that, though? Daisy's always been a clone of Peach, even before being resurrected to give Peach a doubles partner. Could make some of her moves more sports-themed (like giving her Peach's tennis racket and golf club, and having her pull a random sportsball out of the ground instead of a turnip), to reflect what her role has become, but she's far more suited to being a clone than Waluigi would be. I can accept this. Waa.

There have been ports of other games on other systems and no one seems to complain about that, except when it's a Bad port which I highly doubt SSBU is.

Also I don't agree SSBU is a port because there is so much new shit in it and I'm sure there is a lot of more stuff that hasn't even been revealed yet like single player modes and other stuff.

So porting is the impossible now? My main beef with this is how this guy is acting like he did anything but port trash. This sets nothing but a terrible standard to other developers.

"Hey, should we develop something new and exciting?"

Does the game have a challenge mode and a trophy dispenser like in melee? Melee challenge mode and Trophies are the only things I've liked in any smash bros game

Every character that hasn't been in since Brawl or before, needs to be reworked to match current graphics and engine. And since they've changed the engine a bit again (they said they're aiming between Smash4 and Melee feeling), so it doesn't play exactly like Smash 4, every character even from Smash 4 needs to be reworked slightly. Some characters have altered/different attacks. Every stage needs to have assets and textures redone.

We know it's smash, as far as I know, we don't know what the modes and side content are.
Assist trophies, new and old need to be reworked.

I think you're underestimating how much work is going into the game. It's not a mere copy + paste.

Maybe we should wait for more info or the inevitable Smash Direct we will get in the future before you throw a temper tantrum.
