They kept a safe assumption that people want games and less weird dancing and cars on stage, so I think they did well. Like I said in the live thread, I would have liked to have seen less footage of sequels and more details on newer, unique games, but I know they gotta keep pushing for sales as a company.

see that's the funny thing. their conference was great, and they showed some cool looking games, but most if not all the games I wanted are multiplat

so it's like they did a great job, but for other companies (at least in my eyes).

they had 0 exclusives other than gears of war and halo.. as usual

so it's like they did a great job, but for other companies (at least in my eyes).

Since the PlayStation 4 launch Sony has been doing nothing but the same thing in their advertising. Everything from Call of Duty 2 now Red Dead Redemption 2 to Battlefront 2 all of their advertising posters and Graphics are done in such a way as to convince the consumer that it's going to be only available on PlayStation 4.

Oh for sure, it's just that I already have a ps4 and pc, so I'm glad I don't need to buy another system to play the games I thought looked cool.

That's kinda why I'm always more excited about nintendo announcements.

Yeah, they totally won. Rehash the same 3 franchises over and over and never make a new one. They're showcase was really lacking and the most interesting things were multi plat or didn't have any gameplay footage. This won't be hard for Sony to beat tbh. If they just show one new promising ip they win. Hell, Beth can beat them with an expanded Fallout 76 presentation. Microsoft showed nothing that would make me want to buy a xbone. Forza Horizon 4 looked damn pretty though and Cyberpunk 2077 footage, even if not gameplay, was nice to see.

Each of the main conferences has fallen into a certain groove the past few years that they don't significantly alter.

Microsoft is always lots of trailers and the word exclusive used haphazardly.

I'd say if they actually had good, non-multiplatform games they'd actually have the best conference consistently, just because of how it's structured.

May have been mostly games, but nothing to buy a xbone over. All of the best stuff shown I'll be able to get on pc or my ps4. I've been waiting for years now for Microsoft to step up their game and build some new franchises, but it's the same shit every year. People like to accuse Nintendo of doing the same, but at least they've got more than 3 series to do it with and still make a new one every now and again. Sony would only have to show one new "must have" exclusive and they'll trump MS. I loved my 360, but they've done fuck all since.

Let's be honest.

Exclusives are barely what they used to be unless you're Nintendo. They have been sparse and highly derivative of other games for either console anyway.

The whole Xbox/pc thing isn't relevant unless you're someplace like here that has people that actually throw some cash down on a competent pc vs buying a far more affordable console.

And remake, rehash, game sequel 6-7-8-9... Welcome to the gaming industry.

Microsoft had a good conference, but over 50% games shown will also be available for the PS4 as well. As for all the new studios, probably (hopefully) not for x-box 1, they should polish the hell out of their future games and have the best launch lineup ever for the x-box 2.

I'm not saying it's convinced me to buy an Xbone, either. All I'm saying is that it was a solid showcase of games, and anyone saying they'e lost E3 already is saying so prematurely and showing their bias. We haven't seen Nintendo or Sony's stuff, yet. Maybe Sony knocks it out of the park with some surprise games. Maybe Nintendo shows some Metroid Prime 4 and melts everyone's collective mind. Who knows? But I'm certainly not going to say MS lost just yet, and the fact they had such a solid showing means they have a fair chance of pulling this one out.

MS had a decent showing but it's worth noting the games that got me the most excited are multiplatform. Kingdom Hearts 3 and Devil May Cry 5(Although what's with the faces of Nero and Dante?) respectively. The rest of the games were eh to me but I can't fault MS for showing mostly just games so a good conference really.

I find this topic odd, because almost every opinion I've seen on the press conference was that Microsoft pretty much failed to impress in every single way. Not EA levels of failure, certainly, but more in a "Why should I give a fuck about anything you're telling me?" sort of way. Yet here's someone clearly praising it, and other people supporting that view.

I haven't actually watched their conference (and I have no real reason to, since I have zero intention of buying an Xbox this generation), but now I'm kind of curious exactly what you think they offered that was so groundbreaking or appealing, as opposed to standard boilerplate and empty promises, or "announcements" of stuff we already knew about that keeps getting delayed *cough*Crackdown 3*cough*.

Exactly what WAS it they said that won you over so thoroughly?

When the time came for me to decide whether I wanted to buy a PS3 or Xbox 360, the choice literally boiled down to "Halo or Uncharted?" That was IT. There wasn't a single other exclusive on either console I gave a shit about, so the only thing that really mattered was whether or not I wanted to play Halo (which was a franchise I loved from the original Xbox), or Uncharted (which was a franchise I didn't give a shit about).

So I bought the 360, loved it, and to this day I still consider it the best of the last gen consoles.

When the time came for me to decide whether I wanted to buy a PS4 or Xbox One, the choice once again mostly boiled down to "Halo or Uncharted?" There were other factors (like Microsoft's terrible pre-launch marketing and the mandatory Kinect BS), but in terms of games, the only real distinction was once again those two. There really wasn't a single other exclusive on either console I gave a shit about, so the only thing that really mattered was whether or not I wanted to play Halo (which was a franchise 343 has essentially ruined since taking over the brand), or Uncharted (which was a franchise I never had a chance to play but which I've consistent heard good things about). A choice only really underlined by Sony releasing the Uncharted collection (so that people like me could play Uncharted 1-3 in spite of never owning a PS3), while Microsoft came out with the Master Chief collection, which was a broken mess that they STILL haven't fixed years later.

So I bought the PS4, loved it, and to this day I still consider it the best of this gen's consoles. Especially in the wake of exclusives like Horizon: Zero Dawn and God of War coming out after I already owned it. Whereas Microsoft has come out with... hmm... err... ...yeah.

There was a time when Halo was one of my top franchises in all of gaming. Now I probably wouldn't even bother playing a new Halo game if you gave it to me free on a free console.
