Huh. I wasn't a huge follower, but I'd watched a few of his videos. I'm kind of sad, now.

To me, he will always just be the guy who put himself on the line to promote gamergate even after it devolved into the rabid anti woman campaign it became.

Sucks for his family but....I have nothing good to say about him.

Yeah, but he's also someone who says that victims of mass shootings should, even if they want to speak out, be allowed to grieve privately (before lawmakers enact legislation that would encourage more shootings). I just think the notion that you cannot comment on a death in the immediate aftermath is kinda dumb, and I'm using Bin Laden's death to illustrate that, since I'm sure the majority of Americans cheered when it was announced.

Kenneth Lay died in the past few years. He ran a scheme with Enron that netted him millions before the bottom fell out on his company and cost investors those same millions from their own livelihoods, all because he was greedy and didn't care about them. Can we cheer HIS death on the day?

Bill Cosby stands accused (and convicted) or sexually assaulting dozens of women and getting away with it under the guise of a wholesome father figure for decades. Can we cheer HIS death on the day?

Nobody is denying that it was a shitty thing for him to say. It was. Everybody makes mistakes. It says way worse things about the character of people that don't forgive these things and bring it up constantly ESPECIALLY right after that person just died than it does the person who made the comment and later owned up to it.

Really sad to hear about his death. I stopped watching his vids quite some time ago (his opinions were always fairly solid but he took way too long to say them,) but the man absolutely had an impact on the PC gaming community. Back when the community started to put its collective foot down when it came to shitty port jobs, he was one of the folks leading the charge and spelling out what could be done better. As a result, it does feel like publishers are held to a higher standard on the platform these days, certainly compared to five-ish years ago, at least.

To be fair he did later renounce them. He genuinely seemed to be in it for the Ethics in Gaming Journalism, but once he realized how insanely toxic things were, he told them to piss off.

Hes also stuck up for various progressive causes even when his fan base hated him for it, which I admire.

I respect TB. Hes one of those things like Rick and Morty where his fan base is the worst part of his existence. He really became the rallying force behind the PC Master Race crowd, but I dont think he was that awful himself.
