360 onwards is pretty good overall, because technology advanced so much, but prior to that I feel that the strongest platform for this is the SNES.

I don't really consider those games "aged" but I might be old.

In general, the SNES/Genesis generation most fit this for me. The early 2D and early 3D eras have a ton of stuff that aged really poorly. SNES/Genesis was the pinnacle of 2D (as far as it being a dominant style), and we're still in the pinnacle of 3D.

As for specific games, Super Metroid comes to mind for me. I played that for the first time in the last year, without much exposure to that type of game, and it totally lived up to the hype. Same thing with MMX but to a lesser extent. I'd say that SMW and ALttP also hold up but I've been playing them so long I feel a little biased.

Pretty much anything from the 16-bit era.

Also a lot of mid-late 90's adventure games (King's Quest 7 and Curse of Monkey Island come to mind), it is a shame that most of them were released at the end of the popularity of Adventure games, and the horrible FMV adventure games pretty much killed off what was left.

Might and Magic 6(the first person turned based rpg, not the super hard strategy rpg.) is still what I consider to be the best dungeon crawler ever made.

I als think that The NES and SNES Mario and Zelda games are still something anyone can enjoy if they like platformers and action games, and have aged considerably better than ANYTHING on the Nintendo 64.

Same here. Something about sprites, if done right, can still make for a fun game if the gameplay is good. I was really amazed by some Super Famicom games toward the end of the SNES/SFC era.

Personally my problem with the The Sims 2 is that I'm really big on modding games, and the person who has done most of the best mods for the sims 2 is fiddler.

Just as well though. The Sims isn't my kind of game.
