I get close to the end and just...stop playing. I don't know how many times I got to the final dungeon in OoT and MM and just never touched the game again.

This is usually only a problem for me on replays, but I just realized that I'm close to the very end of Bayonetta (1st play) and haven't played in over a year.

you make it farther than i do!

i tend to find myself losing interest somewhat early. usually at the first long, tedious, or filler dungeon/world/planet.

there are simply parts of games that are carried by anticipation of what new thing you're going to discover. if you've already beaten the game, that feeling is gone

in a second playthrough i don't think i've made it past the water temple in OoT, Taris (almost posted Tarsonis) in KotoR, or Noveria in Mass Effect. Didn't get far in the Witcher 3, either

i think these might be the only games i've tried to replay and failed

You did indeed stab me in the back. However, you are only level one, whilst I am level 50. That means I should remain uninjured.

I think what it ends up being for me is that my enthusiasm for replaying an adventure game is like, I'm really invested for the first 25%, I have momentum keeping me through the next 50%, but by the time I'm to the last 25% that momentum has run out and I lose interest, even if the last part of the game is very good.

This is true for me as well. And because of my backlog, I rarely ever replay games. I prefer moving on to new ones.

This happens to me more often than I'd like to admit. Sometimes I'll even make it to the final boss, lose, and call it good enough...

I guess because the games I usually love to replay can beaten around 2-3 hours I never run into this.

Same, actually.

Though I usually end up picking it up again later and finishing.

i quit games all the time but not really at the end. only time i can think of was in Skyward Sword hero mode, i was trying to do the dragon's boss rush thing and it was too hard and i gave up (and never bothered finishing that playthrough).

I used to do this a lot on first playthroughs when I was a kid. There were so many games I started over from the beginning years later only to realize I was basically at the end

I usually don't have a problem finishing games I re-play.

My problem is that I usually have 6-10 games going at once so it takes me months to re-complete a game. I have so many favorites that I usually play whatever I'm in the mood for.

I actually haven't been able to stick to one game at a time till completion for about 10 years or so now.

For some reason I couldn't get into Super Mario Galaxy 1/2 and Twilight Princess when I tried replaying them a few years back. Probably played them too much when I was younger.

I have a slightly different problem. Once I've beaten the game, I never load my saves.

On replays, I come back for one play session, and then...I typically don't follow-up. And then when I finally return to the game, I just start new because I don't like trying to figure out where I left off or I want to try something new. Civilization is especially bad for this, but the number of Bethesda game files I have is pretty atrocious, too.

The funny part is that I know I do this, and I still save whenever I quit. Just in case.
