Im at the F5 of BBCAN5 and this season has been amazing. After CAN3 I stopped caring, but eventually got around to following CAN4. Better season but still faltered hard in the end. Didnt bother with 5 at all until now.

0/2 in boot preferences so far this season. Rough start. No one really jumping out at me as a potential fave, although I like Morgan. Annoyed with Jacob for needlessly blowing up her game, but it was pretty funny how badly he got outplayed. Still wouldve liked to see him last longer.

Gonzalez really rubbed people the wrong way big time. Jacob just lol. Stephanie opened him up like a box of chocolates.

The way I've done it for pools in the past is that you can change it at any time... but the longer you keep a winner pick, the more points it's worth.

There have been a few occasions, even way back when idols were new, where someone made a fake and replanted it with the real instructions. I believe Ozzy was the first (I don't believe Yau-Man planted instructions with his phony, correct me if I'm wrong). This was to fool somebody with the fake, though.

The most similar situations I can think of were in AUS2017. We use spoiler tags for international editions, so... early on, AK pulled... a lot of things with a real idol and a "chicken idol" and late in the game Locky didn't have an idol, he just wanted to bluff he did by showing the instructions he'd acquired. Anneliese had left them behind after getting voted out or something like that and he just pocketed them.

There was also the edited-out Statue of Liberty play from last season, HHH, where Dr. Mike gave Joe a fake idol with a real instruction manual. But that didn't make the final edit and left everyone confuzzled when Cole tried to describe it to everyone in his exit press. That was at Tribal Council, though, and it was... really weird.

I'm trying to think of other situations like that. They've been more likely to do things like that recently...

For what it's worth, I don't believe Ozzy left the instructions with the stick in Micronesia. He wrapped the stick in the cloth the real Idol was in, but that was it. Which actually makes it even more funny that Jason thought it was real.

From what I understand, this season has one of the largest numbers of superfans in a single cast, and yet we've already seen some legendarily bad gameplay. As much as I hate the idea of using more recruits than fans, I think this will be a season they point to and say "THAT'S why we don't use fans."

Eh. MvX turned out pretty well and that had a lot of fans, too. Just because Jacob was the worst player this season (hard to see anyone being worse) doesn't mean every superfan is going to be bad at the game.

It's not just Jacob, we've already seen bad gameplay from Domenick with his own bad fake idol play, Stephanie G pulling the JT, Donathan having to be pressured into even fucking TRYING at the immunity challenge (as horrendous as James was, the kid at least fucking TRIED), and the entire group of men on the purple tribe already giving away their own strategy to each other. That's a lot of bad gameplay two episodes in from supposed superfans.

Stephanie Johnson is playing very well but I don't know, something inside me says if someone is getting swapfucked, it's her.

I think someone in-it but low-key is winning this one, which is why I've picked Jenna and Wendell. I don't think we're gonna see a Tony win this one but I don't think it'll be a Bob either.

That lasted all of 4 episodes.

At one point, my dad said Redemption Island was his favorite season because of how entertaining he finds Boston Rob and I almost punched him. He's changed his mind, though, because of the high amount of sheep - something he hates. Took a while to get him to realize that.

I mean, yeah, RI as a season is underrated because of how nearly flawless its first three and a half episodes are, but aside from the merge episode, everything after that is utter shit. Worse seasons exist - ones with zero good episodes (South Pacific) and ones where it's off-putting, dark, and awful instead of boring and predictable (Caramoan, Worlds Apart).

SoPa's entire pre-merge is amazing, and Upolu once they get down to the final 5 is great too. It's just the Savaii Pagonging (and the subsequent Edna boot) that are terrible.

#2. Jonny Fairplay (basically quit despite being the swing vote since he wanted to go home and only could if he were FOO)
#3. Carolina Eastwood (worst player her season - they booted her over SANDY BURGIN!!)
#4. Tony Vlanchos (went from being part of a dream alliance with Queen Sandra, Malcolm, and Aubry to... yeah)
#5. Garrett Addlestein (ran the first vote, got blindsided the second for being even dumber than J'Tia)
#6. Jacob Derwin (lost in the second hour, but was largely due to being "too different" from his tribe)
#7. Franny in Caramoan (had to eat a rock)

Three of those are second-hour boots. If we're only talking Day 3, there is Darnell (for losing the snorkel mask, which got them to boot him over Alecia - not that either was going to fit in with the jerks). There's also Marisa but that was because of Hantz...

Premieres encompass just the first night, which could include 2 eliminations.

To me 'flaming out' is when a player crashes and burns so hard right out of the gate, you can't help but almost feel sorry for how bad they performed. Like the first time you had sex, these 5 players flamed-out so hard the smoke trail of humiliation could be seen for miles. It's bad, but it was also so good we'll never forget it.

I think an underlying quality is how these players all did this to themselves, in spectacular fashion, all for the worse. They overplay their hand and do almost nothing but dig themselves deeper until their torch is smuffed.

Who was completely irrelevant throughout the entire two-episode premiere despite her tribe going to both tribals?

But Jacob was actually NOT as bad as the OP suggests in terms of hogging up so much of the edit that there is nobody left. Stephanie J, Domenick, Donathan, and Chris all got strong edits over the course of the night, and Sebastian, Jenna, James and Wendell all got some meaningful content as well.

I wish we saw more of The Libster. Because Wigler said she is a stone cold axe murderer type of player. Her comparing herself to Kim Spradlin pre-game is therefore not without warrant. Libby can look people in the eye and pretend to be their friend, then just shrug off voting them out.

She'll go far unless she's swapfucked, but given the edit, she ain't winning. Still wishing there wasn't such an early swap again... let these two tribes duke it out. Would not have surprised me to see Malolo rebound as they became a more cohesive unit while the egos at Naviti would tear the tribe apart. I'm talking Chris, Sebastian, and Domenick in particular.

Also, for those who care about beaches... Joe said on RHAP that Naviti is at the Healers' camp while Malolo is Yawa/Solewa from last season. Nuku/Levu is not in use at this time. (I'm not sure - were the Healers at Mana?)
