And add in # of term limits like Presidents do (although I would give more terms than 2 obviously). And you can serve in the House and be a Senator (at different times obviously) but both count towards a single # of terms limit. MabusIncarnate posted...Capn Circus posted...MabusIncarnate posted...Capn Circus posted...It was written into the constitution that no one under 35 years old can be our president. Is this a fair law? I feel like 45 for a number of reasons. Primarily though, running an entire nation is a massive responsibility, I mean tremendous. I myself, i'm 36, and a lot of people I know, hang out with, and talk to are around my age bracket. I wouldn't trust myself, along with any of those others to run a country, It still seems too young to me. I think a chain of command and working your way up should be a requirement also, how someone like Trump, a man who isn't a politician, can just step in and take over the nation because he was nominated and absurdly voted for. I think actual political experience, a mayor, senator, governor, etc should be an absolute requirement with a set amount of time and experience, minimum 25+ years. What happened during this election is like they take the Walmart district manager, and say "Here you go, you are the new president of the Chicago Bulls. We don't care that your experience doesn't apply to this position, or that you really don't know much about basketball, a lot of people said you might do a good job, so here you go! Have at it." Even with an associates degree, you can get an entry level position in politics and it shows your overall devotion to the job and the position you are aiming to gain. 35 is a good age since you have enough experience in some sort of professional field. Assuming you can be a lawyer at 25 at the average rate of completing a Baechlor's degree and a law degree (typically a J.D) in 4 and 3 years respectively. That's 10 years of work experience in the legal field, and might suffice to be a head of state.
Even then, most people don't become heads of states at 35, it takes more years to enter the politics and become someone worth a shit. --- "Bear Island knows no king but the King in the North, whose name is STARK." ... Copied to Clipboard!
