I read the first couple volumes of the Takagi manga. It's so much better than the anime. Such a shame when something gets a lame adaptation like this.

No, I mean that they've already got a simuldub but are still not releasing in the US.

With an english dub out there, even more people are going to pirate it. The only reason for anyone to have actually waited for Netflix' 3 month delay was to get a dub. Now they have absolutely zero anti-piracy incentives.

I finished Juni Taisen. Real shame about the budget just disappearing like that. Great last episode, but I wonder if there was a better to tell most of the smaller stories. It felt melodramatic sometimes when it had no reason to be, even if I "got" what it was doing.

It was amazing watching it fall apart. The first episode looked NOTABLY good and had sok e great action and character animation.

And it just COLLAPSES, to the point where you can't even believe what you're seeing. In can't even imagine what that production must have been like behind the scenes.

Nezumi's ability was super intriguing and kind of tied the whole thing together. Seeing other timelines as he struggled with his wish was cool! And then his wish even made sense, plus it was actually animated well, unlike the shitshow of like 7-11.

Part 5 is still the only part without a full quality manga translation, and may have the most fights that would benefit from being animated, so I'm VERY excited.

I've heard that it's a big improvement on the original since the original's so fast paced. The anime adds a bunch of character development.

I feel like a lot of the warrior's backstories could have been removed or cut down.

The events towards the end felt super weird'y paced and needed more episodes while lots of the earlier stuff could have been done faster. But they really wanted to do the 1 zodiac per episode thing so they shot themselves in the foot.

Black Clover was all marketing though. Zodiac had a great first episode and the Nisiosin name.

Man, I am loving Yuru Camp. I'm not usually the type to laugh out loud at things (I usually just enjoy comedy internally, if that makes any sense) but episode two managed a few actual laughs from me. Besides that, it's just... calming to watch. I don't know enough about art styles to really put this into words, but I also love the art style.

Episode one of After the Rain was pretty good too.

I do agree that anime watchers as a whole use the term "slice-of-life" too frivolously. A few examples I commonly see are when people call stuff like Clannad or Toradora slice-of-life, though I'm confident I'd end up with a somewhat sizable list if I tried to come up with every example I knew of.

Can't really pass judgment on this particular case yet though since I haven't seen it.

They tried to push Toriko super hard too. And it kinda worked but also kinda didn't.

Crunchyroll Black Clover ads were all over my internets, though seems like they banked on western audiences liking it more. For Japan, I remember Toriko getting a big push.

Though the real WSJ we gotta hype up on Board 8 is Saiki Kusuo, great manga and the adaptation provided some good laughs.

Watched Violet Evergarden, it was ok, but you gotta let these kinds of things play out a bit more. Might actually be better as a binge type show since the first ep seemed to be a slow build type of story.

For first impressions, there's been a few KyoAni shows that did better but let's see.

Torikos push was pretty successful I think. It kind of has a hard sell overseas though which prevented it from reaching like BIG shounen title tier. The manga is pretty fucking great though so anybody who likes shounen fighting series should give it a shot. Too bad the anime was heavily censored and basically had to cut literally all of the cool content. The world building in Toriko is pretty damn solid and the main cast are good too.

The real shame is Beelzebub not going mega huge. Best Jump series and it got axed and also got a pretty shitty anime :(
