Man do I watch Citrus weekly or do I binge it all at once at the end of the season? This is a tough call.

Also do we know whether or not Citrus is a complete adaptation? Haven't done much research on that and I don't even know if the source material itself is finished or not.

Went through what Anime stuff the Amazon Prime now has to offer.

It really jumps at you, how Crunchyroll isn't capable of entering the anime movie sweepstakes.

Sure AS was a failed experiment, but I gotta wonder if the anime crowd is similar to the wrestling demographic in the west. As in, it's one of the fanbases that isn't high income and kinda just relies on a smaller hardcore fanbase that spends big on the product.

When I go to Japan and watch say Doraemon or Shin-chan, the commercials can include insurance, cars, banking basically stuff targeted towards people with $$, I don't think in the west they'd attract those companies.

Though Doraemon/Shin-chan/Sazae-san are outliers, the other anime stuff doesn't seem to be drawing that key demo, but there's still good money to be made.

and probably a ton more I'm not aware of

then they are dividing up a lot of these anime into paywalls that would normally just broadcast like any other show on Japanese TV (uncensored ecchi shows have paywall I think)

with all that and also anime will have a hard time getting to a wider audience and especially in the west where people turn their noses up at anything that isn't shounen friends as "weeb trash"

If you watch the dub you'll get actual accents for the characters.

More new episodes of the season watched. Slow Start is cute and I like it. citrus was good too but I can already tell this anime is going to be bad for my fragile heart.

Three episodes into Just Because. It's kinda like, almost a good show, but the two main characters are so terrible. Eita somehow manages to be even more boring than the average harem protagonist (he feels kinda like a VN protagonist in a game where the MC never talks and the girls have all the dialogue, only it's worse because he actually does have dialogue), and Natsume doesn't have any personality either. We know that she used to be the student council president, but how she managed to get that role we'll never know, considering her absolutely zero charisma and apparently unexceptional academic skills (I think most anime/manga I've seen the president gets a recommendation for college, but apparently she's so lame that she has to take entrance exams). It'd be nice if this were one of those shocking twist animes where those two die and we're left with more interesting characters. Save us Age.

Slow Start: always feels weird when there's a slice of life show with zero hooks. Kamuri is great and Eiko is good too, but Tama and Hana are kinda nothing? Especially Hana. It's like, why is she in this show.

Pop Team Epic: I kinda feel like the manga would be better. I dunno. Might drop this and wait to read the manga instead?

I finally finished Re:Creators. I thought it was okay but a few aspects of the story really bothered me.

Too often the story depended on the absolute stupidity of the characters (Alice, Charon, etc) and even knowing that was just a reflection of how they were written in-universe... I didn't like it. Re:Creators also dealt with the character abilities in a way I don't enjoy. I prefer it when powers are defined and then used in interesting ways. Magane is actually a great example of this. The use of her lie at the end to summon Setsuna made perfect sense and was set up awesomely. However, Magane's role in the story paled in comparison to the Goddess of BS named Altair, who dealt with powers in a way that I hated. The entire second half was 'nice try but I have NEW POWER that I literally pulled out of my ass and it negates what you just did' and I rolled my eyes every single time.

Still, I acknowledge that both of these aspects were central to the characters and the story so I won't whine any more. It just didn't appeal to me personally. At least Magane got a happy ending, she was my favorite!

I call popular shows shit all the time, though I guess it's possible that mainly happens on /r/anime and not here.

Also something I was wondering about Re:Creators. Are all of the creations inspired by specific real anime characters? I was able to figure out cases for a lot of them, but I have no idea who Blitz Talker is supposed to be for example. Also some seem based on tropes moreso than on specific examples of the trope, but yeah.
