A family from Texas is demanding a rescue dog be EUTHANISED after it attacked their 2 y/o son at a pt adoption event in Dallas!!

Luca Romero was stroking dogs at the Dallas Pets Alive event when a pit bull-Labrador mix attacked him.

Allis Cho, the boy's mother said "It was awful. It literally dragged him to the ground and would not let go. it was flailing him around."

Her husband, Alan Romero said "What we want is for this dog to be euthanized. it was an unprovoked attack. This dog is dangerous. He mauled a little kid and will probably do it again"

People were welcome to pet this dog and Luca had been stroking the dog that attacked him and was initially friendly before it attacked

Allis says Luca loves dogs and is used to playing with German Shepherds but it took a dark turn when Luca was walking back toward the leashed pit bull when it jumped on him. It sunk its teeth into his arm and chest and refused to let go. She doesn't believe the dog is safe in anyone's home and wants it ethuanised

She said "4-5 large men had to come in and literally pry the dog off of him. One of the guys was punching the dog and the dog wouldn't let go of him. It seemed like forever, but i'm sure it was just a minute or two"

Luca was rushed to the hospital and received several stitcheds on his arm and chest

Leslie Sans, the executive director refused to comment on this event as the rescue agency is investigating this event from happening again. She said they screen tests these animals before they are allowed to appear at an adoption event.

Luca's parents said he's doing better but is still scarred from the experience.

The dog is now in a 10 day quarantine period..

Who cares, it's a dog. It'll never see it coming. The dog that almost killed me as a kid bit several other neighborhood kids.

I'm not fond of the little rats. They bite people, they defecate all over the place, they hound you when you eat, they bark at everything that walks in the door, they scare the shit out of neighbors, threaten little kids... and they offer nothing in return. Why can't people obsess over some other preferably non-carnivorous animal that shouldn't have left the wild... like goats or something?

This dog is dangerous. This dog should never be around kids, and it probably shouldn't be around other people, either. I guess it could just be locked away for the rest of its life, but I'm not sure that's really a better alternative.

Did you even read my post? 2 year olds are totally trustworthy and will in no way at any point in time do something that doesn't qualify as petting.

A lot of pet shelters around here euthanize potentially dangerous dogs anyway. Is that not a common practice in Texas or did this dog just slip through the cracks?

Lots of shelters euthanize dogs that aren't even dangerous due to overcrowding. Euthanizing one who bites kids isn't a big deal.

It certainly sounds like a danger to others. And it's pretty much standard procedure to put down dogs which unexpectedly attack kids.

My son grabs the shit out of dogs and cats and its legit scary for the animal that isnt used to that kind of attention. This was more than likely a isolated incident thats getting blown up because its a pit.

If the dog has form for this kinda of behaviour it shouldn't be at a pt adoption event. If it doesn't have form for this then they should still remove it from any other events. Whatever the case I don't think the dog should be put down when chances are the dog wasn't at fault.

Presumably because the chosen dog will have to live with the tiny baby. The dogs shouldn't be on show and being offered to people if they haven't been trained to not attack children.

Punching a baby holding a gun doesn't make you less likely to be shot, you're not defending yourself. Justified self-defense would be taking the gun out of the baby's hand, pushing it away from you or leaving.

Plus it's not like it has an owner anyway. It was an adoption event, and now the dog will be known as being dangerous around kids which creates a legal responsibility for whoever might adopt him. I wouldn't adopt a dog who was known to attack somebody because, if it happens again, they can point to that first incident and say that the dog was known to be dangerous already.
