Alright the one with Binro I just had been drinking a lot that night so that was sort of accidental. This one there was literally no point in me winning because nothing would have changed, only thing changing was the seeding of Swirl and Binro. And I decided to go the path of least effort due to it not affecting me

And I probably would have lost anyway, plus I had fun this way

You could at least respect your opponent by giving him a good match. It's kinda shitty to Binro since he probably would have enjoyed a better seed. In the Eddv case he only hurt himself by quitting, but you throwing your matches on purpose kinda threw Binro under the bus. Even if you didn't have a shot anymore at the top 4, you should have at least given him a decent match imo at least

I mean that's one way to look at it sure.

I'll also add that I almost did better throwing the games than I would have actually playing them, like that switch into Giga Drain and spamming rock polish so his protects would get wasted. Definitely wouldn't have done cool shit like that had I been trying because I constantly overthink.

I get this point of view but I think it's also a tough position to be in since bane's own match had 0 bearing on himself and one of swirl or binro were getting the raw end of it no matter what. It's like an armello match where you have 0 way of winning but your action on the last turn determines who wins. You have to screw someone over no matter what you do.

That was actually a fun set of matches for a change. In that last battle, I made the mistake of U-turning instead of just switching because I forgot to consider Life Orb recoil damage. Had I not done that I could've switched in again and Earthquake, which could've gotten the KO on Stunfisk. Either way, that was a mistake I can blame myself for unlike the last two s*** matches and I'm not moving regardless, so whatever.

Also calling inactivity on Stevie at this point, don't blame him though, the match doesn't matter at all.

In general, I find randoms to be less enjoyable this gen than the previous. I haven't played too many games, usually stick to OU or UU, but I played a bunch before and after most of my matches, and it appears to be more random than last gen to me. I know that happens in this format, but it seems a lot more frequent now. Most of the matches appear to be decided by team preview now, which makes any match seem like a 50/50 roll a lot more than skill based play. I was unfortunate this time with my matches against Shad and Flubbin being both brutal 2-0's in which my teams stood no chance whatsoever. Random teams does provide more luck than usual, but the luck/skill balance has gotten quite a bit worse, and I enjoy less matches than not, which is a shame.

Maybe, everyone knows I always save my bad luck for the playoffs anyways. Honestly, anyone would want to fight me in the playoffs. It's a guaranteed win :(

If I had to pick I'd say gen VII Randoms has more luck than gen VI did, but I also don't think it's an incredibly significant difference.

I know people who are more into OU/standard metagames, and this is a phrase that I've heard thrown around a few times there as well. I think it's just the state of the game in general now, as there continue to be more Pokemon and an increasing number of viable threats (in both standard and random) that you can't cover with just 6 Pokemon.

I'm probably overselling it a bit because I'm bitter is cost me two matches in a row here, but I'm glad it seems to be the general consensus and it's not just me having awful luck.

It's not nearly as bad there though, at least not after Baton Pass was banned. Dugtrio leaving helped too.
