Board 8 > Does anyone else have a bunch of dead DS games?

I'm legitimately sad about this.

Almost all my DS games are dead. My DS/3DS XL/New 3DS XL can sometimes read them but not easily. I can't even get Kirby: Canvas Curse to be detected for longer than a split second. I think the only DS game I have that even works properly is Pokemon HeartGold.

RIP, my handheld games from my high school years.

Am I the only one with a bunch of broken DS games? It's making me regretful and paranoid that I bought 3 Switch games physically when they're available digitally. I'm not sure I can trust them.

Huh, battery backup died or something? I haven't tried playing a DS cartridge lately, myself. Get a good backup device and put the images on there. Second-rate ones aren't going to fare any better.

I think something or loose or rotted inside or something. I noticed a few years ago that Mario Kart and Animal Crossing would only sometimes work. Most of my games seem to rattle a little, and this isn't because of lack of care or anything, brand new Switch games do the same thing. At any rate, I finally got Kirby to work and wow, I last played this in April 2006.

I am thinking of getting some kind of backup device but I have no idea what to get and afraid to ask here.

I am currently playing through two separate DS games and have had zero problems. Where were you storing your games?

I was storing them in a case. Which confuses me even more about why they don't work properly.

Perhaps there was a slight moisture inside the case? At some point?

I'm now worried about TWEWY. That better not die on me!

I'm thinking that since my games were in a pocket next to my DS that somehow they got pushed against it. But there's padding so it makes no sense to me.

I'm thinking I'm going to have to store my Switch games in their original cases and not in my travel case, then only buy digital for major games even though I don't get the Amazon Prime discount on them.

mine still all work fine as far as I know. granted, there are some I haven't tried playing in a while. but this sounds like an odd issue to be having after a (relatively) short time.

I love Nintendo and their systems and games, but I don't think their handheld games really last like their consoles. My SNES and N64 work way better than my handhelds, despite being older. Maybe it's because handhelds are more subject to abuse unlike consoles that sit around all day.
