If it was a televised series I'd buy the argument, but it's hard for me to see them going for the Pokemon style americanization of an anime that's a Netflix exclusive.

4 Kids changed actual plotlines and shit. Glitter Force likely just changed proper nouns to make it easier for kids to understand.

I've been pretty down on the show this season, but the past 3 or so episodes of March Comes in Like a Lion have actually been relatively good. Still not up to the highs of season 1, but I'm at least enjoying the show again.

Finished Recovery of an MMO Junkie. Great show! Moriko's a top-tier main character. She's both hilarious all the time and totally sympathetic. The series is heavily focused around her, so it's good pretty much all the time. The rest of the cast isn't as amazing, but they're solid enough. Sakurai's probably the best of the rest, so it's good that he has the second most screentime. I did end up thinking the first half was better than the second half though, mostly because I don't like Koiwai. He's not as bad as he could've been (I'm really glad he never became a romantic rival to Sakurai), but I generally enjoyed the show less when he was around. It's still my favorite show of Fall so far, but without him it might've been an AotY contender.

I didn't like the whole Kanbe thing at all. Seemed he wanted to be involved in the romance part but then backed out. He was still very curious about Moriko throughout and it kept showing him being jealous/worried. Very convenient for him to be the cashier at the store everyone goes to as well.

I'm done Madoka now, just finished watching the Rebellion movie

Not sure how I feel about that ending (of course they couldn't just go for the happy ending!), but hopefully there's another season or movie someday to further tie things up.

Still, I liked Rebellion more than the anime itself. Parts of it early on were what I envision a great magical girl show being when they were tag-teaming their powers in creative ways to bring down enemies. Mami linking Homura/Madoka with a ribbon so they'd all be part of the time-stoppage, and then Sayaka throwing her swords through Kyoko's barrier to power them up, those moments were both so hype!

Rebellion is pretty cool! Also it totally has a happy ending. The describe it as Homura becoming a devil, but when you think about it, everyone is happy and all the problems are basically fixed. I liked the original Madoka's ending quite a bit more. At least Sayaka stayed dead there.

That chart doesn't say which are available for streaming tho. Also a lot of those aren't very good.

Still, it's a neat chart that actually answers the worry I had about the thin line between 'not as grim as Madoka' and 'actual kids show' so I'll at least see what I can find from column B. Thanks Xeybozn!

As for the ending to Rebellion, I'm still gathering my thoughts but it just felt like a less permanent solution than the one Madoka came up with. Homura even acknowledged eventual conflict in her version, which was by no means guaranteed in Madoka's. Still, I hope they continue the series because I am interested in seeing what happens next, if anything

I would but it doesn't look like it's on Crunchy or Funimation. It might be on Netflix I guess but if there's a way to check what's on Netflix without being logged into it at my computer I haven't found it yet.

I watched 3 shows out of the magical girl chart... and I dropped two. Lol.

The two I dropped are Shugo Chara (when I started looking up characters and noticing differences with the manga and realized just how godawful the changes were), and Utena... I dunno, it was weird. Speaking of dunno, I still have no clue why I just chose to never continue Yuuki Yuuna. Not dropped, but I mean I didn't bother with the continuations.

Oh, sorry. You understand why I would assume otherwise with you giving me a bunch of shit before about supposedly "changing my Top 10 every season".

As for this season, I just can't imagine anything is gonna change hard enough with 3 weeks left to drastically change this ranking. Especially because, as much as I love this season, none of the entrants from it in my votes are in categories that would really be effected.

I was planning to watch New Game for a break from more serious anime, then Attack on Titan, and then Love Live (while hopefully finishing a couple I've already started and keeping up with a few current shows somewhere in there too). But yes, at my pace I should get to LL soon!

Let me tell you why you don't have to feel bad putting Apocrypha there... The quality of the show has tanked. I would still have listed the Lancer v Lancer fight as one of my tops for this year (note that I never bothered with AoT or MHA, so probably the big contenders for those were not on my watchlist), and it's like... There are a couple fights that just had their animations gradually get worse Chiron vs Achilles was kinda good, but eh. Karna vs Sieg(fried) was just awful by animation. And if you know anything... the pacing tanked as well, especially with Jack's reality marble.

Spoilers aren't bad if you know pieces of Apocrypha already, I just needed to mark them.

Honestly if the animation quality has tanked that's not even a major factor. Everything about Apocrtpha has the dtabness of "Safe A1 Pictures", another one of their shows that looks clean and fine, with nothing spectacular in direction to make it stand out at all. 90% if the fights were just beam and air jousting, on several occasions being that very literally. It is not a bad show, but stands out as hugely dissapointing given the current state of Nasu adaptatations.

Also talking about "safe A1 Pictures" is kinda silly when they have a few absurdly good-looking shows. Idolmaster and Birdy Decode S2 are pretty insanely good animation-wise. Your Lie in April was pretty stunning for the genre too. Also most of these shows have different directors/animators. Most of the time the best animators don't just stick to one studio.

Oh, no, there are plenty of great looking A1 shows. But they also have a "house style". It's kind of like DC comics was half a decade to a decade ago, where the top name DC comics were supposed to look a certain way even with different artists, and you could look at a comic page with no recognizable characters in It and still go "yeah, that's a DC comic".

Apocrypha is definitely a Safe A1 Pictures joint. It's good looking, but does nothing spectacular, and compared to it's competition in Ufotable it's not even in the same ballpark.

That said, this would be fine if most of the fights weren't two people charging at eachother in a line while glowing different colors.

Also, episode 9 did indeed stand out as the only episode that looked visually interesting. A diamond in the rough.

I'm pretty confident it's going to have to get my +5 in Most Dissapointing, I just can't find anything else with a bigger expectation to results drop, even if it isn't even close to my least favorite show of the year.

I still haven't watched it, and I'm actually wondering if I need to just in case since I really liked Season 1. It's tough to get into the mindset to watch a show that everyone is saying is bad, though, rather than falling into it.

Blue Exorcist: Kyoto Arc is the second most disappointing anime of all time, next to D.Gray-man Hallow. I will probably just phone in the other 2.

I'll probably get that bundle even though I own a few of those VNs already. I've only played If My Heart Had Wings out of those, though. It had its moments and the main route was fine. Then I could only make it twenty minutes into a second route before severe translation issues made me stop, and that was after I applied a fan patch! Still, the main route was good.

@Mobilezoid Im actually doing a QC for a brand new patch that fully retranslates Agehas route (I know that one yore referring to) and its MUCH more readable than that other patch.

This patch is looking to come out by early-mid 2018
