Devilman crybaby is out on netflix. I've only seen the first episode so far. It's got Masaaki Yuasa (famed for Ping Pong, Tatami Galaxy) art style and direction, but dedicated towards violence. It's actually kinda rare to see the tits-and-gore kinda show from modern anime.

Netflix doesn't have an overall great line up. I think they have one punch man and the devil is a part timer but I don't think they really have much else. I didn't see what they got from the current season though. Even with access to netflix I'd never watch anime it has on that platform over kissanime as netflix doesn't have the best subtitle placement or player IMO. It's arguably even worse than anime strike was in terms of offerings and performance.

Haven't said anything about this before, but I'm playing through Devil Survivor: Overclocked right now.

I played the original one on the DS a while ago, but man, I really got spoiled by AR codes on my DS.

It made playing through that game a breeze, whereas now, it's kicking my butt on the 3DS.

I get that it's a SMT game, so I should have expected this difficulty, I just didn't realize that I was so dependent on cheats the first time through. >_>

For those not in the know, batoto is one of, if not THE biggest manga hosting sites out there. Lots of scanlators upload their manga directly onto the site, and numerous other aggregator apps and sites use batoto to get their manga.

Looks like it's gonna be a lot harder to get manga from now on.

Hopefully the rest of the dedicated staff can find a replacement soon.

Yeah, mangahere, and all the other sites like that get their manga directly FROM batoto.

So if batoto goes down, EVERYONE goes down.

Especially the solo/small scanlator groups that can't afford their own domain, and only upload directly to batoto.

that being said, what is actually stopping him from just...giving control to someone else? he already said that staff members are in the process of backing everything up so they might be able to do something with it. so why not just let them take control?

i'm sure he has a good reason, but it just seems weird that that option wasn't mentioned

Yeah, for my first overclocked run I'm working on Yuzu's ending now. I'm tempted to end it on the 7th day and skip the 8th day so I can unlock the NG+ benefits early. I'll probably just power grind through the 8th day, but it's gonna be tough.

Kyoto Animation is a studio renown for their high quality productions. They rarely outsource their animation staff, pay them living wages with reasonable schedules. Animation quality effectively never dips while a show is airing because due diligence was done to avoid production issues In contrast with most of the anime industry, production is finished before an anime airs. Their production is rather slow due to this meticulous nature.

Also, they only work with Intellectual Property under their conditions rather than the other way around. This way, they aren't strong armed, or choked out of opportunities. They weren't able to produce more Haruhi despite it's success because of issues between them and the IP owners. Their work around to this inherent problem in the industry is as follows.

Kyoani has a yearly contest for writers and manga artists, and the winners are usually offered an anime adaptation if Kyoani likes their stuff. Even if an entry was the best that year, they don't win the grand prize if it isn't creme le crop. They've been doing this for almost a decade and only recently, was an entry to the contest considered a grand prize winner. That entry, was Violet Evergarden. Hype train ensues.

The canipa effect (youtuber) has an ongoing studio spotlight series that is really informative. A lot of it is more interesting than you think it would be.

I only know I'm interested in citrus (yay yuri) and overlord 2 from this season. Theres a few things that look like they could be good but I'll just have to see how it goes. Nothing that really stands out as something that seems like it'll be amazing aside from possibly violet evergarden but I'm not on the hype train for it yet.

Haven't posted in a while, been watching some more stuff, saw both seasons of Hoozuki no Reitetsu and it was pretty decent and am currently almost finished Enmusubi no Youko-chan which is okay-ish I guess.

In gaming news I finally got myself a Switch again, playing Super Mario Odyssey warms my cold, cynical heart and I'm convinced that it's quite brilliant, also picked up the enhanced version of Pokken tournament which is pretty darn fun too.
The Nintendo direct today announcing ports of various Wii-U games such as Donkey kong tropical freeze, Hyrule warriors (with all the DLC) took me by surprise and I am looking forward to them, then of course the announcement of a port for The world ends with you- a title I played before on DS and quite enjoyed- for the Switch was a rather nice boon.
Oh and also a little thing called a Dark souls remaster was announced for Switch, PS4, XB1 and PC as well.

I've been playing final fantasy record keeper the past few months since I got a new phone. My old phone was from early 2014 and retailed for $100 back then, to give you an idea of how pitiful it was.

Anyways, because of that, I've been itching to play a FF game since the last one I played was X many years ago. I've been playing FF 13 and I like it. It doesn't seem very deep story wise and gameplay wise, but it is still quite an fantastical adventure, and the game still looks great.
