hate to say it, but diversity, it seems to be human instinct to hate things they deem different. we are working past that though, most of us anyways.

think that falls under intolerance like happy sack said. and greed is a pretty major thing too.

Arguably that would be an issue of criminals feeling brave enough to risk being caught doing evil.

Human nature, honestly. It creates fear and jealousy, which tend to spiral into everything else. Our nature is to outcompete one-another, but do so in groups because we're a social animal. It's pretty basic yet still unavoidable.

I think his point is, if more people played "hero" for better or worse criminals wouldn't feel as brave. people tend to fear immediate and physical consequences more than they do ones that will come later such as prison time.

Power over others, greed, the belief many people have that ~they~ somehow have the ONE AND ONLY TRUTH (even with plenty of evidence to the contrary), and who has sex with whom.

These things cause far more conflicts than anything else that I can think of, and copious amounts of malice besides.

Everything mentioned in this topic boils down to selfishness. Greed? Wanting all the money for yourself = selfish. Intolerance? I'm better than you = selfish. Diversity? Again, the I'm > you mentality= selfishness. Materialism / desire to control / nationalism / territory? All selfish things.

What makes people suck is wanting it all for me. Obviously not everyone can have it all, so that leads to, well, every other problem we have.

I'd wager more than half is caused at least on some level by fighting over resources and most of the rest is because of tribalism, whether that's dressed up as nationalism, religion, family, or whatever.
