okay, admittedly I hadn't considered the lack of synergy between life tap and gnomish vampire. I guess mill is kinda ridiculous unless warlock gets a card like the one warrior did that puts their hand in the deck.

I mean, there's ways around that. Prince Malchezar in a Tier 1 constructed deck would make me so happy >_>

But I'm currently imagining a world where Warlock's new Hero Power is "opponent mills 2 cards," and I kind of like it.

I think the Warlock hero power is going to try and push the discard mechanic over the top in some way. Maybe "Discover a card you discarded this game. It costs 2 less" or something like that.

What you're describing is generally worse than Life Tap, since your objective is to discard cards you don't care about. Yes, you're going to discard cards you want sometimes, but...!

The immediate effect can be pretty good too.

It's apparently 10 mana according to leaks, which gives it strict competition with Lord J. Maybe something like fill your board with random demons or something idk

My favorite example was either Sphinx's Revelation or Siege Rhino. I knew both would be great, especially the latter with it being in the same format as Sylvan Caryatid. "It'll never come out on curve, you're looking at it being a turn 7". Meanwhile me and the people I know who actually know what we're talking about completely dominated with it and made sure to rub it in. There is nothing better than embarrassing a pseudo-pro.

Maybe it's just my area being a strong competitive place, but I can't even imagine people saying those two would be bad.

The pirate I think is better in rogue, but yeah. Any hints of giving stuff to Pirate Warrior is terrifying.

Definitely not a carbon copy. It's a very very streamlined version of magic. (But not as streamlined as hearthstone) I think that makes it more accessible.

The Mana system is the same but the way your color requirements work is totally different. And they actually weight your opening hand to reduce mana screw, which is huge. Plus it just plays with digital-only mechanics that magic can't do. Echo (add a copy of this card to your hand) and Warcry (top unit or weapon of your deck get a buff when this attacks) are both neat mechanics. It fixes a lot of MTG's clunky aspects while trying to balance some of its failed concepts like auras and weapons, and plays around in similar areas as Hearthstone without being a total fiesta. I particularly like their solution to player weapons. Instead of weapons having a durability, they give you armor, and when all youe armor is removed by any means, the weapon is destroyed. It's a neat game and it's starting to come into its own. Hearthstone was ALSO just a shitty MTG clone for a while too, remember.

So I played HS a while back and stopped because I got tired of seeing C'thun, how is the metagame right now? Is it still shahman and everyone else, or has it diversified a little bit?

The metagame is really diverse. Shaman is still good, but every class has a viable T1 or T2 deck... Except Warlock.

Also C'Thun decks are no longer really a thing.

Yeah it's diverse with several archetypes being playable. Just expect to see pirates.

I would say Shaman is the 5th best class right now.

Druid >= Mage > Warrior >= Paladin > Shaman >>> Priest > Rogue >>>>>>>>>> Hunter >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Warlock

Also, I think I'm the only person in the Hearthstone community who doesn't care about Ben Brode raps.

The meta is actually ridiculously diverse right now. Shaman is still good, but Token/Evolve Shaman seems to be the most popular archetype. Some people are playing Elemental Shaman. Warrior has Pirate Warrior and Taunt/Quest Warrior. Mage has Control and Secret, and Exodia somewhat. Rogue still has Miracle. Druid has a super aggro deck, a big fatty deck and a Jade deck. Priest has Silence and Dragon. Paladin has aggro Murloc. Hunter used to have some aggro and midrange but I don't see it that often now.

Honestly, as long as you don't want to play Warlock you can probably play a tier 1/2 deck. Warlock is garbage right now.

To be honest, though, I'm probably not the best person to be answering this as I mainly play arena, so some of these decks may not be as good as they were a month or so ago.

All these druid taunts with high health and comically low attack make me think we are getting a Doran effect as the Druid Death Knight Hero.

Doran is a MTG card that says creatures use their toughness instead of their attack to deal damage.

Each class has a quest now that gives a reward when completed.

Exodia mage is quest mage that uses 4 sorc apprentices (2 actual ones and 2 molten reflections) and Antonidas to go infinite with fireballs.

Quests are legendary cards for each class added during Ungoro. They are 1 mana spells with a reward being a strong minion or spell if you complete them

With Rogue Quest's nerf the only good one is Warrior's but Mage can appear in gimmick decks aka "Exodia" where you use Time Warp and Apprentices/Tony to create infinite fireballs or Giants/Alex in order to kill your opponent with a combo
