The people who think their premium's will go back to normal because of this are in for a nasty surprise, I can't wait for the insurance companies to start immediately dropping people with pre existing conditions now since we're a money sink for them and it's really our own faults for being born with faulty bodies. It looks like this was just a vote to debate the issue? Why they need to hold a vote to decide if they should debate it is beyond me though. I don't know, this whole thing seems completely nonsensical.

it means they are officially, formally taking up legislation from the house and having 20 hours of debate on it. After that, senators can add amendments with minor debate. Of course, McConnell could always put something entirely new in there

https://www.cbpp.org/blog/rush-to-pass-senate-health-bill-would-be-designed-to-hide-its-impact

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell could not only bring up any of these three distinct pieces of legislation as amendments while on the floor, but — at the end of the amendment process and right before the vote on final passage — he could introduce a significantly modified version of any of these bills (or even a different bill). That new bill could be introduced just hours before a final vote, with virtually no opportunity for the Senate, let alone the public, to assess it. (This could be true even if the Senate takes steps to extend the time between a successful Motion to Proceed vote and a vote on final passage.) The result could be a “bait-and-switch”: debate over one set of proposals, followed by a vote on a different piece of legislation.

Pretty much "Fuck you, I got mine" to the left's "Fuck you, gimmie" if those are your options why wouldn't you choose the "Fuck you, I got mine" when you owe absolutely nothing to those people? Lack of Empathy toward people who don't make seven or eight figures has always been the GOP's requirement and Mccain will take it all the way to the grave as he has shown here today.

this might actually be a good thing because I think Republicans just royally fucked themselves out of 2018. the AARP is against doing this and the Republicans did it anyway. The Republicans without the support of the AARP cannot win.

This kind of mentality is what is destroying this country. Everyone just hates everyone else. Maybe if we got the government out of our lives so that people weren't dependent on it, people wouldn't get mad at others who threaten their way of life. Just another reason to get rid of the whole fucking system, and let mankind be free as is his natural right.

But the middle class who voted Trump deliberately voted against their self interests just for the sake of spite against pc culture, fueling their inner racism, and following the herd that literally believed the clintons to be demons from hell.

it is a hypocrisy

the argument for universal healthcare is

YOU should care about other people and help them and thus pay for their healthcare

now the very people who say this are literally saying "I don't care about these people and maybe not care if they die"

do you reap what you sow? sure

but on the otherhand, if you argue universal healthcare should exist because people should help other people

you shouldn't then go "I have 0 pity" because that is a 180 of the mindset you been preaching others to have
